Cake/desserts: what was the ratio you ordered?

Assuming that you are ordering a good tasting cake/dessert and not something that is from an incompetent bakery or is all around bad. Compared to the number of guests, did you order not enough, just right, or did you have leftovers to send home? For those with multiple cake flavors or multiple mini desserts, was it important to you to make sure that all guests have equal choices or did you view it as first come first serve?

    We had left over little key lime pie bites, which made us kinda laugh as sooooo many people made a big deal about wanting Florida key lime pie. The rest of the dessert bites were pretty much gone. We followed the advice of the bakery owner - one piece per person per item offered. We had 7 mini dessert offerings and 2 - 9" cakes sliced.

    The caterer provided enough of everything for everyone.

    Us too. We just told them how many guests and they provided more than enough mini desserts for everyone.

    I think we had 125 slices of cake for an estimated 140 people. We had three desserts, but our caterer just wanted a head count so I’m not sure how many pieces of what they had. I know we didn’t run out!

    We budgeted 200 donuts for 170 people, knowing everyone wouldn't take one and are providing to-go bags for those who do want to take them home. Our caterer is providing cheesecake cups for dessert as well so people will have two options.
