California 2021 brides!

I came across this LA times news article (linked to thread) and I’m seeking insight on reception restrictions. I was shocked to see an article today that said all receptions were banned, even if we are in the lowest tier (yellow). My venue (an outdoor ceremony and reception at a hotel in Los Angeles) has mentioned that they are moving full steam ahead and plan on holding 100 person weddings this summer and fall.
My concern is that hotels will obviously have to follow the state protocols. If we are in tier yellow (less than 1% transmission) but are prohibited to hold receptions, what are we to do? This is frustrating and quite frankly very vague. The only thing lower than yellow tier is no restrictions at all, so should California brides except to not be allowed to have receptions this season? Even if people are vaccinated, socially distanced, masked etc? Hotels will have to follow whatever the state protocols are at that time, and if this is how it is going to be I would rather plan an alternative now.
Are there any California brides that have received factual information on this? My wedding planner doesn’t have any insight. My hotel doesn’t have any insight. I am even willing to take this issue up with the state if I have to. I have spent way too much money and invested way too much time to not be allowed to have a safe outdoor reception in yellow tier with less than 1% state transmission while other things like indoor gyms, indoor pools can open at 25%-50%. (Rant over)

I'm getting married at Madera Kitchen in Hollywood (ceremony and reception) -- they can fit up to 140 I believe.

I am getting married in August 2021 at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach, and they were supposed to reopen in March and are now not opening until May. I am getting pretty worried myself after seeing that all receptions are banned in all tiers...

Hi everyone, we are set to get married in Carmel Valley 7/11/21 after postponing from July 2020. We were also very concerned about the restrictions and looking to postpone another year. However, after speaking with our venue they confirmed that there should be new updated guidelines in early April. They are cautiously optimistic that they will be changing the guidelines for weddings in the next few weeks. Hopefully from there things

Hopefully from there things will continue to open up steadily and safely. We currently live in New Jersey and here they are now allowing outdoor weddings with unlimited capacity I believe as long as all proper restrictions can be followed. While it sucks to still not have answers we are hopeful things are moving in the right direction for us.

My wdding was suppose to be July 18, 2020 to now June 25, 2021 in the bay area. My venue is only allowing ceremony as of today due to california guidelines. My fiance and I said we would decide first week of April on what to do. Preying the new guidelines will allow reception.

I honestly do not know what to think anymore. My wedding is mid-July and I have talked with my wedding venue and if by May 18th, a 100+ wedding is still not being allowed, the venue has agreed to refund all deposits. My wedding is at a hotel, indoors for both ceremony and reception. Does anyone have thoughts on whether or not a 100+ wedding can happen in a los angeles venue by May 18th? So stressed with this wedding for such a long time.

On the same boat as you. I want to be hopeful, but I really wonder if the new guidelines will be flexible so that we can have a somewhat normal reception.

The state didn’t put out the official guidelines so the moderators can’t say some things yet. They were hoping that the state would’ve announced by now. From the looks of it, weddings indoor and outdoor will be allowed and on a tier system depending on state infection rate and vaccination rate. The state is also going to allow proof of vaccination and proof of negative covid test for guests to be able to host indoor and outdoor events. They don’t have specific numbers at this time on how many people are allowed but they said they are pleased. They negotiated an extra 50 people per tier. Somebody also asked if they would be able to have an indoor or outdoor wedding of 300 in July. They basically said don’t expect it. So I would say somewhere around 100-200 guests as of what I’m hearing. Proof of vaccination or negative test may raise those guest counts.

Yes, it seems like we will all be able to have a pretty normal wedding this summer and into the fall. I also asked about mandatory masks if the your guest list is entirely vaccinated or tested negative and they didn’t have an answer for that. They said to expect it for indoor events and that decision would also be made by the state and venue. Follow @savecaevents on Instagram they will update us as soon as the state releases the information hopefully today.

UPDATE: the organizers mentioned that they did not fight for specific dance and cocktail hour wording in the guidelines. They said they did this because there is a better chance of being able to dance and have cocktail hour if it doesn’t specifically state so I’m the guidelines. Meaning, if it’s not in writing, it’s technically allowed. They also said that the county or venue could go ahead and add their own amendments specifically to dancing and cocktail hour. Does that make sense, y’all?
