Calling all Harry Potter lovers!

Lexi, on March 31, 2017 at 1:33 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 10

Saw the other Harry Potter thread and decided to ask for help on something I've been contemplating!

For my father/daughter dance, I thought it would be awesome to somehow tie it to Harry Potter. My dad and I always bonded over that, from the books to the movies, and I thought that would be something that's so "us". Any ideas on what we could slow dance to? Not sure if "Hedwig's Theme" would be too weird of a tempo to dance to. Hoping someone else has maybe done this or has good ideas!

I don't know about music, but you could both wear house scarves or something while you dance?

What about some of the music from the goblet of fire, the yule ball dances? I think hedwigs theme might be a hard one to dance to personally.

I like the idea of house scarves! The music might be hard to incorporate unless you did something from the Yule ball like @sylphier mentioned.

Hedwig's theme is a bit hard of a tempo to keep up with. I'd recommend maybe having playing softly while people are arriving and possibly one of the songs from the yule ball playing for F/D dance

Yeah I've found some slower ones but they all sound like something you should ballroom dance to.

The scene from DH where Hermione and Harry dance in the tent - "O Children" by Nick Cave is the song, maybe an option? It's kind of dreary though.

I second Yule Ball (Potter Waltz), Harry's Wonderous World could work (?), Leaving Hogwarts, the back half of Reunion of Friends, A Window to the Past, Loved Ones and Leaving could possibly work(?), In Noctem, Lilly's Theme. Those are just a few of the slower ones that I could think of...If you would pick one, I'd do it from one of the first three films because anything after that, the tone of the music, while still amazingly gorgeous, gets kinda dark.

Love the suggestions, Emily! I actually think Reunion of Friends might be good. It's got the familiar tune but a little softer and quieter. I'll probably make FH help me test out dancing to some of these and see if it feels awkward to dance to.

I would also totally nerd out and take out my wand, point it toward the lights, and yell "nox!" as the lights are dimming before the dance. PP's have given great song suggestions!

ETA: "the arrival of baby Harry" from ss/ps would also follow nicely hahaha

One from the yule ball would work but some of those are a little too ballroom-ish. keep it from the first 4 movies, the other movies, while equally amazing, get a little too dark for a wedding. and ditto to what Emily said - the back half of reunion of friends could work. Harry potter is hard, music wise, unless your doing like a ballroom dance.
