Calling all May 2021 Brides!

Hey ladies,

How are you all doing? Only about 7 months until our big day(s)!

What questions / contingencies are you working out with your venues / vendors? We are hoping to have slightly less than 100 guests for our wedding, but we are also trying to closely monitor COVID-19 state restrictions for social gatherings. Our wedding is set to be in IL, and they currently have a cap of no more than 25 guests for a social gathering.

I asked my venue the following questions. Are there any others that I'm missing? Are any of you ladies planning on moving your date if the limits on social gatherings are less than your guest list? Anyone out there planning to reduce their guest list if it comes down to that? I wanna hear what you ladies are thinking!

*Do you have a sense of the building capacity of the venue (capped at 25 people OR 25% capacity)?

*If we are approaching the date and the limit is still set, I know that we would prefer to move the date as opposed to limiting our guest list.

*What is the absolute latest date that we could make changes to our wedding date in the event we need to postpone?

*Would there be a fee assessed for moving the date after that point?

I am hoping that none of this is relevant, but I'm just wanting to make sure that we are prepared for whatever may or may not change over the course of the next few months in regards to COVID.

I’m a August 2021 bride in IL and I’m kinda starting to freak out a bit. Our guest list is at like 115 now I still haven’t sent save the dates or anything yet. One thing I have stuck in my head is not being able to dance and don’t know what we would do if dancing is not permitted like what do you do at a reception with no dancing lol I try to think positive but I just feel like Covid would still be around.

Yeah, I’m on the same page as you. Not much we can do but wait for now I suppose. I’m trying not to get worked up about it before it’s time to do so lol.

If I were you, I would keep open communication with the venue about their building capacity or ability to space out guests as needed. If there is an outside component at your venue, that could be a socially distance dance floor. I think we probably have to be more flexible with our ideas than anyone planning a wedding pre-COVID would’ve been. Sending you love and light for your big day! ♥️

Thank you so much 😘 our venue is at park district so they have a huge open space but I will definitely ask some of these questions. Let’s try to keep positive thinking for our big day

    Hey there!
I’m May 2021 in Illinois too!
Isn’t the gathering limit 50 now in IL? My venue is allowing me to have 50 guests, and I don’t have to count my vendors in the 50.
If there’s still a no dance floor rule, we are instead doing karaoke. There are going to be a lot of professional singers, music teachers, and theater people at this wedding, so I’m really excited!!

Ohhh you could definitely be right! I live in MO so I’m not as up to date with the rules in IL.

I love the karaoke idea! Might have to steal that one Smiley winking
