Ok ladies, our reception centerpieces are themed, not color coordinated. Our theme is the Nicholas Sparks movies, specifically-

The notebook

A walk to remember

The choice

Message in a bottle

The best of me

The lucky one

Safe Haven

Each table will be a different movie, so I need centerpiece decor ideas!! Each table will have votive candles, and 3 quotes from the movie/book that we pick out that is that specific table. So safe haven will be one table, the notebook will be another, etc etc. Nicholas sparks movies is one thing we LOVE together, and the notebook is kinda our story. (Met as teens, had a crazy summer of being in love and best friends and then we lost touch for 8 years, and here we are again!) So we definitely wanted to incorporate that into our wedding. So give me some ideas!!! Smiley smile

I think this idea is adorable. No one has said it so I'm questioning why and l will throw it out there. Why not have the books themselves on the tables too? Then, if people don't know the stories, they can pick up the book and maybe flip through and get an idea or decide to read it after. You could also highlight the quotes in the books. I would maybe do the book, a little lantern and a piece of symbolism or 2 from the book on the tables with the quotes. Just make sure however you arrange it that the book is easily to grab so that people aren't tearing up your centerpieces to look at it.

Our centerpieces were very similar to the top picture that @Taylor just posted, and like @TealWedding, we also included love quotes from our favorite books. That could work for you--use a copy of the book itself, and then a quote from that book that you like. Don't leave it for the last minute, though. Start brainstorming your quotes and collecting your books (check Amazon, eBay, half price books, your own library--you can design the centerpieces in such a way that you don't ruin the books, and they can be re-used or donated after). We did it all in the last month, and it was stressful!

I was literally just about to say what Marion did! I saw an awesome Alice in Wonderland themed wedding where he centerpieces were a stack of old books, something represent the boon (a rabbit, a hat, a deck of cards), and a tea pot full of flowers. It was so awesome and so pretty

I think it's great you and your fiance have something you both love that you can share, and I think it makes total sense to incorporate that into your wedding day, especially since it was clearly a big part of the proposal and your relationship. If some guests don't understand the meaning of the centerpieces, it's not really a big deal. Honestly, I'd appreciate something different than the same ol' floral arrangements or lanterns (coming from someone doing the same ol' floral arrangements). I think @Marion's and @StevieLynn's ideas are great. I also echo PPs who advised against using book names instead of table numbers, as not having table numbers could make it difficult for guests to find their tables (unless you're doing open seating).

I've only seen a few of these movies and don't remember the details too well, so I can't add any suggestions for table decor past what PPs have mentioned. Enjoy your day. I'm happy you and your FH found your way back to each other Smiley smile

I love Nicholas Sparks! I like this idea! My favorite Sparks' quote is the one from when they are arguing toward the end of The Notebook "So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday." Smiley smile

I like the idea of different centerpieces, as long as they have the same look. Like all rustic, all modern, all floral, etc. I don't really care if my quests 'approve' of my theme. (Which really isn't a theme, as much as it is a color scheme.) I'll have whatever centerpieces that my FH and I deem cute!

I've been to an event where the centerpieces were completely different and I liked the idea. We liked going from table to table to see which table was which until we found ours, and then went around to check out the other tables we didn't see upon arrival. We talked to some of the people at those tables while we walked around the other tables. It won't be "easy" to find, but I think it'll be fun to see each individual table. If you have 7 tables, I don't think your guests will be too annoyed.

Pretty much every person I've talked to while planning my wedding and stressing over every little thing has said that they can't even remember what the centerpieces looked like at the last wedding they'd been to. I say if this is what you and your FH want at YOUR wedding then you should go for it. I'm a die hard Nicholas Sparks fan and your proposal sounds like the most romantic thing! Congratulations and I'm sorry I have no real input on how to do the centerpieces, but I just wanted to say that I think you should do what YOU want for YOUR wedding. In the end your the only one who's really going to care about it anyways.

    1. She asked for centerpiece ideas, not whether or not you like her theme.

    2. What does her age have anything to do with enjoying Nicholas Sparks books/movies? Most grown women I know still love Disney and Disney is literally made for children.

    3. When planning a wedding you have to make sure your guests have food/drinks/music/and a chair to sit in, but whether or not they love your theme is irrelevant. Some parts of the wedding can just be because the bride/groom wants it that way and not catered to the guests.

    4. I think this is such a cute idea and I love that your FH loves the movies just as much as you because that is hard to find! I like the idea of having a similar centerpiece for each table and modifying each one to fit the specific movie/book. Also, I think doing the title instead of numbers is fun! It's not like it will take guests an hour to find their seats, if they have to walk around a couple minutes that's ok, they will get to see each table and how you decorated it which would make it even more fun as a guest. At least for me!

I'm seriously in love with this idea. I think it's absolutely great. I don't really have any specific ideas for how to incorporate it all but I like the idea and I think his proposal is adorable and the fact that the movies are incorporated in both makes sense to me. I would definitely do the last song I think that's a great one with the turtles and sheet music and even stained glass would be cool for that one. The notebook some letters and ducks maybe a row boat or something.

The first thing I thought of was using hardcover books without the dust jackets as was already suggested. Put a vase of flowers or candles on top of the book and add some small figurines of sea turtles or ducks or whatever goes with it. Maybe paint the figurines a solid color that matches your wedding colors or silver or gold. I'm not a Nicholas Sparks fan myself so I have no idea what types of things to use. I did like The Notebook and if it has special meaning to you I don't see a problem with it. Just keep it subtle and tie it together by using single colored figurines to add some detail might look interesting without being too much.
