Camera on Honeymoon?

FutureJenS, on February 29, 2016 at 2:31 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 25

I'm debating on if we really need a camera on the honeymoon. We will be out of the country so we plan to shut our phones off while we are at the resort. Do you think we should take a camera or do you think we won't actually use it?

I always just put my phone in airplane mode and still take pictures! I've also bought the disposable waterproof cameras for pics that involve water!

I'm glad we took ours (two cellphones - for camera purposes, a go pro, and a Nikon).. So many pictures and videos!!! We also went international (to Iceland) - just got back late last week.

ETA: we turned off our cellular data and/or turned it on airplane mode, to avoid charges. It only work on wifi (for Internet/messaging purposes).

We are taking our camera, but leaving the phones in our room. Less technology to fret with and this is the first time FH will be going out of the country. We both want to experience our honeymoon, but the pictures will be nice to have later on too.

Personally I can't imagine going on a trip without my camera, but I love taking pictures. Of everything. I would second the recommendation to turn the data off on your phone, but still use it for pictures, or if you don't already own a camera, invest in a cheap disposable one that will get the job done without breaking the bank for something you're not sure you'll use.

We only went to Mexico, and didn't do any major exploring/sightseeing, so our phones were good enough. We're both pretty attached to our phones regularly, but honestly weren't interested in anything going on in our "real life" to be checking them, so they weren't a distraction at all.

Only you know if you will use it!

I personally love taking pics when I travel, but some of my friends never do. They just like to be there and know they will never look at the pictures later.

We just used our phones. We were out of the country, but kept them on airplane mode and used them as cameras.

We are taking a go pro to Jamaica so that we can have fun photos of the waterfalls, blueholes, and snorkeling. Just depends on what you want. I also suggest using airplane mode if you don't want to bring a separate camera. I know for myself, I will definitely want the photographs as a keepsake.

FH and I are huge picture-takers, so we'll definitely bring our cameras and phones along. But as others pointed out, at least bring your phones if you don't want to lug a camera around. You never know what you'll see, or what you'll want to look back on later.

    Great choice!

I will absolutely be bringing mine. FH actually bought me a DSLR camera for Christmas because he knows that I've been wanting one for our travels. I am so excited to bring it on my honeymoon. The views are supposed to be breathtaking!

I would make sure not to spend the entire honeymoon behind a lens, but you are going to appreciate those memories when you get home!

We are taking our phones (so excited they won't work though!) and we are also taking a go pro as well!

I would take it. It'll be a great way to capture memories.

Definitely take a camera or use your phone. I love looking at my parent's honeymoon pictures 28 years later.

I'm not the type of person who takes a lot of pictures....my mom was always that person in our family, but I usually don't think to in the moment.

I have like no pictures from vacations, unless other people took them. however I am kind of considering getting a go pro and bringing it on the honeymoon....Sometimes I wish I had pictures from certain things, so I'd like to make more of an effort. I think you should at least bring a camera so that you have the option.

We got a Go Pro! I'm so excited to play with it in prep for our honeymoon. We even got the harness so that we can put it on our pup!
