Campground wedding?

I was approached by someone who owns some land with a campground. She wants $200 for the pavilion space/surrounding area and I would get it all day. I could pretty much do whatever I want. Alcohol is fine. No extra fee. No certain time to end the reception. There are these adorable cabins there....

I could pretty much do whatever I want. Alcohol is fine. No extra fee. No certain time to end the reception.

There are these adorable cabins there. They are $30 a night to rent They have ac/heat. I was thinking about possibly renting the whole thing for the weekend. People who would want to stay could stay there.

I dont know about the ceremony yet. When I went to look at this I was only looking for a reception venue. It is too far from the garden for reception. There are walking trails here. I was thinking about going down there one day to see if there was some kind of opening I could use for a ceremony.

I am really thinking about doing it. I think it could be fun and there is a lot I could do to the place.

Has anyone ever been to a camp wedding?

**Yes my wedding is more laid back. There will only be about 60 people attending.

The cabins have linens. I live close. If they didnt I would just use my own.

Honestly I think the place is so cheap because it needs to be cleaned up a little. It is mainly a farm now. People use the rv grounds whenever they come for events in town. Thats about it. They dont really advertise the camp. I think she is wanting to clean it up and do more with it. I told her that I would help so...

This sounds great! Don't forget about providing bug spray for the guests. I would remember a wedding like this forever!!

I would love to attend a wedding at a campground! Heck I would love to have my wedding there ahah. And you can't beat that price.

Just please make sure you have some sort of bug deterrents set up around the place. I wouldn't want to be eaten alive by mosquitoes while attending a wedding.

Other than that it sounds great!

Also... There is more than one bathroom. There is a big one on stilts like the cabins and 2 smaller ones that have showers

We're doing this! As PPs have said, it can be a lot of work, especially if you're in a rural area without many established vendors-- we're ending up DIYing a ton of things that I would otherwise not care to. But, we're also planning from afar, and it sounds like you'll be able to have trials and things. I think go for it! It will be a hassle to plan in some ways, but it will be really fun. I'm really looking forward to sharing the campground we go to for my family reunion every year with friends Smiley smile

We just went and looked at our first venue today. It was a summer camp. I was in love just from the pictures online but when we got there it was so much better. I think you will have a great time if you do yours there. I would suggest going to look at the property because in my case, the lay out was a lot different that i expected. Not in a bad way but its good to see it for yourself. We think it will be a really great time. We are big campers, hiking fans and most of our guest are as well. We plan on making a weekend of it as well, at least for the wedding party. I think you guys will love it! Its very unique and you have more control over things. We plan on doing some "yard game". Giant jenga, cornhole, etc in between the ceremony and reception while we are taking pictures. I dont think the planning will be any more than if you had it at a banquet hall. The nature does most of the decoration on it own.

I love the idea of people being able to stay onsite if they like. It extends the party! I would think carefully about all the things to remember that people have listed and if you think you can handle it - go for it. (FYI, I've stayed in really nice 4* ecolodge-style hotels in South America with compost toilets - depending on the set up they can be really nice. One even had a garden in the corner.)

As for the ceremony, depending on your religious preferences and weather concerns an outdoor ceremony onsite is possible too. I'm getting married at a finca (think farm/country home/bed and breakfast) and we decided to forgo an altar and decorate a tree (see photo - not mine, from Pinterest).

My wedding site is technically not in a campground but it's right beside it & you have to drive through the campground to get to it. We've considered getting a camping spot with my patents camper so our dogs can be part of the wedding but safe & put up in the camper for the reception.

We are only having 50-60 people & I bet 2 or 3 families will camp there

    YES!!!!

This is what I do, and I love wedding weekends.

    Such fun. Smiley smile

Just make sure that the bathrooms are available, and that it's not so far out that you can't get a caterer there. Verify with the caterer if they will need a portable kitchen or not - that could cost more.

    Best wishes!

My wedding was at a church camp. We didn't run with the camp theme, but I do think it could be sweet and fun if done well. Are you still getting married in March? How is the weather in March where you are? I love the camp wedding idea, but I would want to make sure it was during a time when the weather is generally expected to be good.

Dear friends of ours own a campground and this was our first choice for venue. Unfortunately after doing the math on the caterer and all the rentals we'd need it was completely out of hand. So much regret though. We thought it would be amazing and casual and fun! Now we've swung the completely different direction and we're at a country club!!

My fiance are big into camping and we could not find a venue we both loved so we decided to reserve a group campground. It has been such an amazing time planning we feel like its going to be the most exciting camping trip ever. Having BBQ catered and my parents and his parents are coming up with an rv and a trailer. If you guys love the out doors go for it! It looks like a great spot for a wedding with lots of room.
