Can i ask my regular hairstylist to travel?

on September 2, 2019 at 11:36 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 12
I've been seeing the same very talented hairstylist in the salon for years and I would love love love for her to do my and my bridesmaids' hair on the big day. The trouble is, the salon where she's based is an hour and a half from where we'll be. Would it be weird to ask her to travel? Of course we'd pay extra, mileage, etc. I don't think she normally works outside the salon and I'd hate to make it weird.

You can definitely ask. Most stylists will travel for a fee.

I agree that it never hurts to ask. I also have a stylist I am loyal to and he immediately assured me we'd do whatever to make it work (ultimately I decided I'd come to him.) I think she'd be flattered that you want her to be your stylist for your wedding! Definitely assure her you'd pay her travel fee, and if she doesn't have a fee right away because she never does this to take her time and get back to you. Smiley smile I think with bridesmaids, too, it'd be worth her time.

Yep - I'd definitely ask her - tell her exactly what you're looking for, that you'd pay travel and such, and that she doesn't need to tell you right then and there. I think your worst case is that she's unavailable or not interested in travelling, and if so - no biggie!

Definitely no harm in asking! Sounds like you trust her and would be compensating appropriately for her travel/time so worth a shot!

You can ask, and she's allowed to set the travel fee.

I would definitely ask! If she's been working with you for this long she might make an exception for you being a loyal client?

I would just ask her if she does weddings and what she would charge for the travel. But I'd also be concerned about someone doing wedding HAMU if they had only worked in a salon before.

I can't imagine my wedding day without my hairstylist. I asked her and told her I'll pay her the price she would get for an average wedding party. I'm only having 3 girls and a flower girl and she does my step daughter and daughters hair ..she is the one I trust especially on my big day I would be lost..she is priceless part of making me feel and look good and my FH agrees

My regular hairstylist is coming to do my hair. It’s probably a 45 minute drive for her but she said she would have been upset if I didn’t ask her to do it

Good point! I hadn't thought about if it would be different for her to work on the road vs in a salon. Would it be that different?

I assume so, only because all salons don't do weddings & all wedding HAMU artists don't do regular salon clients? I think your day to day look is a lot different than what you want at your wedding and how it photographs and how long it needs to stay in place, plus doing HAMU on the go in a bridal suite rather than in a salon.
