It may make you feel relieved but a lesson I learned from working in procurement, if you pay up front there is no recourse when things go wrong. They have their money already. Your vendors are 99% likely to be no problem, but right now with covid, there have been places that go out of business with no notice.

I would not....like PP said, there’s no recourse. If you pay in full in advance there’s nothing stopping anyone from taking the money and disappearing and failing to provide services. It’s not LIKELY, but it certainly has happened. If you have the funds just ready and waiting, pop them in an interest earning savings account — even if it only earns a few cents, that’s still a few more than you would’ve had if you didn’t hang on to the money!

Just came to agree with the above. Put it in a separate account!

Agree with all the above, we're paying minimums due to everyone as we don't want to lose our money if someone goes under and we need to emergency switch to someone new. Right now we have all the rest of the money needed for the wedding already saved up in it's own account collecting interest.

I paid in full thinking I was being smart and then covid hit and I couldn’t get my money back. I was able to switch the date with all of my vendors but one, but with downsizing the wedding from 75 to 20 I wasted a ton of money. Pay the absolute minimum and put the rest in savings til the end.

Never pay in full for any service you are hiring for being wedding vendor to contractor. Pay the deposit requested and final payment upon completion or week week the event as most wedding vendors ask

As everyone else has said: never, ever pay anything in full until it is completed.

Half up front is reasonable (particularly for things like contractors and so on, who might need materials and labor), but see the job done, first.

I definitely did this because I just wanted the payment part over with. There is only one vendor that prefers payment on day of so that’s the last one we have. 13 days out and pretty much everything is paid aside from makeup! It feels awesome, but also I have great trust in all my vendors and they have all worked together before so I have no doubt it will go smoothly
