Can i Store My Kisses Long-term?

Dania, on January 15, 2021 at 2:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
Hey 👋🏼,

FH and I are getting married in December 2021, and I just wanted to know if I can store some Hershey's Kisses until then. We'd want to have the Christmas and Valentine's Day themed kisses for our wedding because we think they would fit in perfectly. Would storing them for a year be too much of a stretch, or would they still be okay? What was your experience? (This question is more specific to the Valentine-themed kisses)

    I wouldn't.

While chocolate technically doesn't go bad, it can go kind of gross.

Not to mention, you'd have to figure out how to keep them from melting, or attracting pests.

Personally I store my Hershey’s in the fridge because I like them cold. I don’t think they’ll go bad?

    You could try this: https://www.justcandy.com/pages/personalized-hersheys-kisses-by-occasion
They can personalize your kisses or provide you with Valentine ones when needed.

Can you go to the store and look at the expiration date on one of the bags? Obviously they’re not the same, but I have a bag of mini m&m’s next to me that I just purchased and they expire in November. I would assume kisses would be similar. Chocolate also sometimes gets a weird coating when it’s too old, I would probably pass on this.

You can store it in a cold garage for a couple months but not a whole year. Go on candywarehouse.com and order them fresh. They are sorted by holidays, themes, etc.

That works temporarily up to a month before they start to get bloom (the pale coating with a different taste)

Tempered correctly chocolate lasts about a year, but will eventually start to get a film on it. And add in that Valentine's chocolate is shipped to stores before Christmas, so it is probably made well ahead of that.
