Hello! So long story short, I’m going out of country in a few days and was advised not to wear my engagement ring (for safety purposes because you just never know) but, I feel so naked whenever I don’t wear it Smiley sad. I was wondering if it would be weird to wear just my wedding band in the meantime for my trip and then switch back to my engagement ring when I come back or just suck it up and not wear my ring overall Smiley sad.
Thank you in advance for the advices ❤️

I recently went to Guatemala for medical volunteer work and did not wear my engagement ring. I did not want to be worried about it. If you are feeling naked without it, I would do as PPs have said and get a cheap one (similar looking or silicon) to wear while traveling.

With traveling you are never sure who is watching. Honestly, I wouldn’t wear any ring so I don’t draw attention to myself. I like the silicon idea. My fiancé and I had beautiful resin rings we bought on Etsy that were about $20-30 dollars when we were saving up for our wedding rings that would be great for travel. I have traveled a lot and flashy jewelry gives you unwanted attention even if it’s a fake ring from Kohls. For your own safety and protection don’t wear a flashy ring. Have fun on your travels! You are gonna have so much fun!

Thank you everyone for your advices !
I’ll be looking at rings tomorrow and if I can’t find one, I’ll just leave my ring at home and suck it up 😪 Like everyone has said, better safe than sorry Smiley smile

Go on Amazon and get a faux ring for the trip. $10- $15. No one will know.

I ordered a pretty set from Wish for camping/hunting. Then I don't take the chance of damaging mine, and it's still pretty. But if it breaks or I lose it - no real heartbreak and I'm only out about $5.00.

I wouldn't wear any expensive/special rings. You could wear a less expensive ring as a placebo.

As for whether it's 'right' to wear your wedding band beforehand, it's your choice, but I wouldn't because I feel like it's special for your wedding to be the first time.

I'm getting a fake engagement ring to wear when we travel. I wouldn't blame you to buy an inexpensive replacement ring just to be on the safe side

MY FH and I are making matching wood bands for stuff like this! They're pretty cute and a quick youtube video will show you how to do it!
You could grab the silicone ones instead if that's more your style, but no, I wouldn't wear the band instead, you wouldn't want to lose it so far from home. Especially if this is more of an active vacation, but even still, rings fall off/get stolen.
Get something cheap you like, even if its just a plain band gold/silver band, that you won't be phased by losing.

I agree with the others! You should always insure your ring and wear IMO. However just wearing your band, wearing it on the right hand (like a European) could help you be less of a target, or one of the rubber rings.

So we went on a cruise and we did a lot of excursions to Jamaica, the Grand Caymans, and Mexico. While on the ship, we wore our real rings. There was a safe in the room and we felt completely comfortable leaving them in there while we were off of the ship. Off of the ship we just wore silicone bands. It made me feel less naked without anything and was perfect for all of the water activities we did (e.g. swimming with dolphins). It also gave me peace of mind to not have to worry about my real rings in the water. Here is a picture of me and my bands below....also pictured is a cute dolphin giving kisses Smiley love

I was an International Flight attendant for eight years....ive been literally all over the world.
I always wore my jewelry, but I was also taught to blend in and not announce yourself as a tourist..., be aware of your surroundings and don't let your guard down. Don't have your camera out all the time...dont ask for the locals to take your picture.

Act like you belong there and know exactly where you are going and what you are doing...even if you don't.

    Don't make yourself a target.
Be discrete when you are making a purchase.

You can easily be robbed anywhere and at anytime....not just abroad. Keep your valuables, including your passports in the hotel safe. Don't leave valuables in your room...even in your luggage. Always use the safe.

Always lock your luggage...hotel staff can in some instances(not all) go through your luggage.

If you have concerns just leave your rings at home.
I'm going to wear mine on my honeymoon in St. Lucia.Smiley smile

I have a silicon ring from QALO that I wear when we travel so I don't feel completely naked. If you can, get a cheaper ring to wear if you don't feel safe to wear your engagement ring or wedding band!

I’ve been to Spain & all over Europe with my e-ring (which is pretty large & chunky lol) & I’ve never had any issues. It’s way more dangerous to wear my e-ring in NYC, where we live 😆
While there are certainly places in the world that are dangerous, Spain is way less dangerous than many parts of US.

What about getting one of those substitute workout bands? Then you have something to wear when your going to the gym or doing more physical things.

Based on this I would buy a cheap lookalike substitute and not wear either the band or e-ring. And if you do end up wearing the band make sure it's ensured before you leave the country.

Definitely just buy a cheap ring and wear that.. I wouldn't wear your wedding ring either because there's the same risk there as wearing your engagement ring.
