Can you hire someone to get a marriage license for you?

I live in the Los Angeles area. Can you hire a person/business to get a marriage license for you? We hired a business to get our passports for us so we didn't have to stand in line and miss work. I've been trying to google info but I guess I'm using the wrong key words? I heard this service is provided?

Thanks, does this work if your getting married in September? I can't even apply for a license yet, the office is closed. The county clerk in not so many words said to stalk the website for when we could apply. o.0
