Canceled Wedding 😢

Shanee, on May 23, 2021 at 7:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Well my cruise wedding was canceled. My wedding was scheduled for October 9th 2021, Carnival has canceled all weddings for the remainder of the year.
So I’m planning a wedding in 5 months. Had anyone had this happen?

I’m sorry this happened to you, Shanee! Do you have any vendors who you’re able to keep, or are you starting from scratch? My wedding last year was postponed 3 weeks out, then changed to an elopement 4 months out from the postponement, then locations changed yet again 1 week out. I remember how stressful it was, but how, ultimately, it ended up wonderfully. Make a list of your priority vendors (venue, catering, photographer, officiant, florist, etc) and start with the venue and catering. You can absolutely do this, just keep yourself organized! Everything will turn out exactly as it’s supposed to be. You’ve got this!

Wow, I'm sorry this is happening to you.
We recently had to pick a new venue and date due to our original venue still being closed with 120 days left. And now my wedding is just 3 months away.
You can do it!If you are part of any wedding groups on Facebook you can post there that you are looking for vendors, venue etc. You would be surprised how many leads you will get. Good luck with your planning!

Thank you so much Erika! I’m not in any Facebook groups. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. I will look into it right now!

Hi Nicole. Thank you so much. Trying to stay positive. I don’t have any vendors starting from scratch.

I'm so sorry that your plans got cancelled!! It's definitely not fun to have to change plans, but it's absolutely possible to plan a wedding in 5 months! Like Nicole said, start with the venue and any high priority vendors, and go from there. Go to local Facebook groups to find vendors within your budget, and/or check with a local college for film/photography students for photography/videography. Use the checklist on Wedding Wire or The Knot to help make sure you've got everything covered. You've got this!! Your day will turn out beautifully!

I'm so sorry this happened to you, but I feel your pain. Our reception venue cancelled on us in April. Unfortunately, I already had 4 vendors booked and had rescheduled due to COVID 2x. All the vendors I have are already booked for the balance of the year. We decided to cut down the guestlist and host the reception in our backyard in Nov (our 3rd and final date!).

Is postponing an option? That might be the easiest thing since you haven't booked any vendors. If not, try looking for an all inclusive local venue. Or can you use someone's backyard? In my recent searches, I found that local taco truck caterers were wide open. That's the route we took.

Definitely utilize the vendor search here on Wedding Wire. You can send multiple inquiries requesting availability and quotes. If you have bridesmaids, ask if they are willing to help with search or at least follow-up with vendors who do respond back to you.

So sorry your wedding got cancelled. You should definitely try to reach out to a venue ASAP and maybe see if it’s all inclusive so that it’s less vendors to contact for available dates. After your venue the next two I would focus on is catering and photographer/videographer! I think floral, dj, cake, bartending will be a little easier to book. I planned my wedding in 90 days so it is definitely possible. Good luck!!!

Sorry about the cut off try and see if there is a boat service that will host your wedding or try a beach or restaurant.

That really sucks!! Especially for them to tell you this late. So, I’m so sorry that stress landed on you. We actually just started all over (from scratch) with our wedding, with only 6-months to go. But our situation is a little different. For 2.5 years, we’ve been planning our postponed wedding as a destination in Las Vegas. But a few weeks ago, I had an unexpected feeling come over me and suggested to FH that we cancel everything in Vegas and get married locally on the beach, here in San Diego. So I quickly rushed out to locate a new venue first. In a day, I found the perfect venue and it was also available on our date (which felt like confirmation that this was a good decision). So, we paid the deposit and now I’ve been booking new vendors one-by-one. It’s all been falling into place and the key is to be open minded and also quick and efficient with the vendor hiring process. I realize that our situation was by choice and not by force. But I wanted to give you some hope and let you know there’s still time and it will all come together beautifully. Best wishes!!!

We had our whole thing cancel due to covid so I'm planning in 5 months too! I know it's a huge bummer, but 5 months is plenty of time to still throw a gorgeous event. I would take a day to mourn and then get back in planning mode Smiley smile
