Cancelled my wedding on 5/30/20 due to corona virus

Adriana, on March 17, 2020 at 3:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Hello brides, Me and my husband decided to cancel our wedding that was set for 5/30/20 due to the carona virus and governments recommendations to social distance and have gatherings smaller than 10 people. Trump in this mornings speech said that if we follow these recommendations we are looking at things getting better by July/August and that is the BEST case scenario as long as everyone all together as a nation can follow these recommendations. Our wedding was 2 months away and we emailed our venue and all other vendors today for a full refund. Me and my husband are getting married in the court now and post-poning our wedding for sometime next year (we didn’t set a date yet for next year just in case the corona virus lasts longer than expected). I wanted to post this because if we want our nation and our world to get better from this pandemic we have to make decisions that are inconvenient to us sometimes. Everyone in the world is being inconvenienced from corona in the effort to stop this pandemic: gyms are closing down, Disneyland shut down, bars are restaurants are closing down, and thousands are losing jobs and money in order to contribute to our nation getting better by social distancing. Brides, our weddings are not somehow excluded from the list of gatherings that should be cancelled. I know weddings are super special and you guys have been planning for months (I cried when I postponed my wedding since I’ve been planning everyday since my engagement), however during this time of a nation wide pandemic we must be adaptable and flexible. The whole world is being adaptable, flexible, and being inconvenienced and this does not exclude brides. Please contribute to cancelling your wedding if it’s in the next couple months in order to help this nation wide pandemic. You can always post-pone your wedding. Remember the president said this virus could start looking better by July/ August if EVERYONE follows the social distancing recommendations and gathering recommendations. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

Have you actually been able to get refunds/partial refunds from your vendors?

I think we will do the same. Our wedding isn’t until July 26, 2020, but I think better safe than sorry.

If (fingers crossed) everything is back to normal by 2021, are you planning to rebook at your same original venue? Or what are you thinking...

We cancelled our 5/30/2020 wedding as well and moved to end of August. Hopefully things will be better by then. Probably going to the court house to get married on original date anyways if possible! We had no trouble with our vendors- nearly all were able to accommodate 🙏
