Hi everyone! I'm Gio. Originally a bride of may 2nd 2020, then October 2nd 2020, November 21st and finally cancelled wedding. While me and my husband did get married on our original date we had intended to postpone but finally decided to cancel permanently. For everyone out there who sti wants to go through their weddings amidst everything, my best wishes. That is a very personal decision and in not trying to tell anyone they should cancel. We decided to do so because some of our family member's fell ill with COVID As well as some of our vendors. We finally decided to give up as we don't see this coming to an end anytime soon and the idea of hurting our loved ones kills us. So we took a financial loss and lost all of our deposits but decided it is our best option. While I know this is the best decision for us. I'm having a really hard time letting go of that magical day I planned in my head and the thought of never wearing my dress makes me incredibly sad. I know this is super dumb considering how much more people have lost during these times and how much suffering there is in the world, but I can't help it. I'm very sad. So that's why I'm here! Hoping to get some support, some words that could help me push through this and focus on the positives and maybe do the same for someone going through the same.

Thank you!
-Gio

    Hi Gio
I am so sorry. I too was a covid bride (4/24) eloped and postponed until November. We too made the decision to cancel. However, we decided to do a photoshoot. We rented an Airbnb, had makeup and hair come and went and did photos with our photographer with my dress and his tux. We did our vows (since we didn’t get to). It wasn’t our dream day but it was a perfect day. I hope you find some silver lining. I know it’s difficult but it’s out there.
    Best wishes.

Friends of mine had to do the same, so I thought I would offer their solution to her not getting to wear her dress:
They booked a private photo session with a photographer and essentially did a “first look” photo shoot where they got glammed up as though they would on their wedding day. It was still so special to him to see her in the dress, and she got to have that moment of her husband finding her absolutely beautiful. Their photos are stunning, possibly even better than at an actual wedding where nerves ruin a first look. If I get her permission and I can find the ones she sent me, I’ll post them!

    Hey love,
I too am in the same boat. It's okay to be sad! Covid has ruined many things. Our wedding is supposed to be 11/14/20. We are most likely cancelling as well. Super sad. I hope you feel better. Things will get better. Good luck!
