Candles that burn out too fast

marriedlady, on July 12, 2012 at 10:46 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 10

Okay, so I did a test run of these candles I'm using. Both floating candles and tea light candles. But they do not stay lit for more than 3 hours. My reception is going to be at least 4-5 hours. Is anybody else using candles during the recption and if so, what are you planning on doing if the candles burn out?

Am I worrying too much about the details?

I am using votive candles and I think they last longer than tea lights and floating candles but I'm not going to worry about it too much if they burn out before the end of the reception. I don't think anyone will notice or care. To be honest when I go to weddings, I notice the ambiance and decorations at the beginning of the night but by the end (after a few cocktails) everything but music, food, and drink is lost on me =)

We just used tealights. They didn't burn the entire reception, but we bought an extra package to refill through the night. Thankfully, our catering staff was amazing, and took care of it without being asked. Honestly though, they could have all burned out and I wouldn't have even noticed, ha!

We purchased floating votives that will last 8 hours (per packaging - I have not tested them).

However, we will not be lighting our candles until later, as the sun will not be setting until 9:00-9:30 pm and our venue has 5 walls with 5 windows each. You may be able to save candle that way...

I am using regular floating candles - tested and they burn about 3 yours. Since our reception is outdoors under a tent, we won't even light them until sun goes down which is about halfway through our reception so they should be fine.

I have been stuck at work and have not been able to log on to WW all day ladies! So sorry!

Thank you for the advice, I guess I should just use them and bring refills just in case? I'll talk to my venue about that and see if they will keep an eye on them.

I wouldnt worry. If guests are still sitting down and staring at your candles instead of cutting up the dance floor then they need to learn how to have a good time. Smiley smile
