Candy Buffet / Dessert Buffet or Both?

marcie, on October 18, 2012 at 3:15 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 31

Hey yall im here trying to figure out what would be best. Im having 200 or so guests and a big cake. Having the wedding at a country club in Davie and I want it to be spectacular, my planner gave me an option - Whether I should do a candy buffet, dessert buffet, or both with the cake. I would like to know if this is all too much or should I just choose the cake with the candy buffet and forget about the dessert buffet. Please help

Welcome to WW, Marcie! Honestly, I think having a cake AND a candy buffet AND a dessert buffet would be too much, especially if you have kids present, that'll be quite the sugar rush. I think the cake and a dessert buffet might be a better deal, as some folks don't like cake but might enjoy different desserts. But really, it's up to you if you choose the candy or dessert buffet.

Also, I hope you'll update your avatar (the rings) to a unique picture so we can remember you and help you more in the future! I think as a guest i would need to go on a serious diet lol.

I am doing cupcakes (instead of cake) with candy buffet. I personally thing all 3 would be too much but hey if it makes you happy and you have the money to spend on all three, Go for it! Smiley laugh

Just remember how many courses is your meal going to be and how many deserts are you going to offer. There will be lots left over if you figure one of everything for every one..

Hello all, thanks for the warm welcome! Reenski, I just learnt how to change my profile picture and I thank you for that. I agree with all of you, I think im leaning toward a cake and then the candy buffet separate, I have seen some marvelous pictures of some candy stations that matches my theme and I think it would be a head turner at the country club. My planner is actually taking me to Sugarman Candy tomorrow to view their selection. I think this is the way I want to go but its so expensive, however, "you only get married once" Right? lol. I will let you know about the visit and my final decision

I had 100 guest at my wedding and I did a little of both at my reception; candy, cake and cupcakes. The guest loved it!

I think as long as the set up is right it will work.

For once, Reenski is totally wrong. There's a first time for everything.

There isn't such a thing as too much candy, even if it's surrounded by cake, cupcakes, and ice cream bar, dessert table and brownies to go.

But ultimately it's the budget question.

I am planning on having a wedding cake and a dessert buffet with candy, cookies and cake pops. IMO you just put the candy and dessert buffet on the same table and magically it's still a dessert buffet Smiley smile

p.s. I bought 90% of my candy through my amazon prime account, It was by far the best deal I could find.

Eeeeeeerk! Stop! Here's the scoop from my wedding last week :-) We had wedding cake and a big formal dessert presentation of banana's foster flambe.... Very few hit my candy buffet. BUT here's what was a HUGE hit - we did late night snacks about an hour before the end - cheesesteaks, french fries and soft pretzels (all gourmet). LOL we're from Philly so it worked awesome for us!

Omg Marie that sounds amazing. Me and the fiancé eat at places specifically because they have Philly sandwiches.

I'd do one or the other. Both seems like a little much. Of course that's just me. I'd have to try one o everything and you'd have to wheel me out lol

I'm doing a cookie buffet, but may have 1 or 2 different types of candies there (hersheys kisses and old fashioned lollipops) just because I love them and want them on my wedding day. I think donig full buffets of each would be too much and lots would go to waste.

Just got back home and this may sound extremely selfish for my guests, but im having a candy buffet with cake..... The place I went to has everything I need!! They have Gummy Bears that taste like heaven!! lol They have taffys in all colors which I know that adults love. Also rock candy's and just everything I would need and the displays in store are just amazing. I need this for the look, for pictures and memory, not for the taste so much, lol... Even though the taste is fab. See the pics I took with the gummies
