Candy Buffet?

lisa, on February 7, 2011 at 8:25 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23

Anyone having a candy buffet at their reception? I'm having a Christmas candy buffet to go along with my Christmas themed wedding. All my glass is Christmas themed and I won't have any difficulty finding candy in December....anyway, if you are having one, what is your theme, colors, candy type, etc....

I was going to do just my wedding colors, but it seems to cost more ordering bulk in one color.

I didn't have a theme to my candy buffet. I just bought candy I love and know other people love. It was a big hit. I think people don't really care how it looks as long as they see their favorite candy.

I'm doing a candy buffet! also a christmas themed wedding!! i was going to go with a professional, thinking they could get the stuff wholesale and cheaper.. but it was cheaper - by a lot to go to a bulk store! i bought some valentine chocolate heart things 'cause they match my colors (eggplant & wine)! Smiley smile

i'll buy the rest closer to the day! (I'm worried about wrappers all over the floor Smiley atonished) but I'm getting macroons, rosebuds, slow pokes, broken oh henry bar things, and other chocolates like that....

It adds up when you consider the jars, decorations and containers. but i think it's still cheaper to DIY this one!

Our venue was built in the mid-19th century and is decorated accordingly, so I want to do a buffet with old West penny candy--salt water taffy (one of my favorites anyway), rock candy, and other such things.

We are doing a candy buffet too. We are doing it in our colors - pink, orange, & yello with some white candy mixed in. It is one of the things I am most excited about. I have been pricing candy - gumballs, foil wrapped chocolates, rock candy, sour ribbons, white yogurt pretzels, swirl pops and swirl sticks. It is looking like the candy will cost us between $300 & $400.

We are putting it on a large table with our cake and cupcakes to round out the sweets table. Because we are doing cupcakes (also in our colors) we are just doing a small two tiered cake in the center of the table for us to cut.

I love the christmas theme buffet....but I am bias because I am absolutely in love with Christmas and would celebrate it all year long if I could!

We are having a "Queen of Hearts" Alice in Wonderland type theme with Red and Black as our colors, I am planning to get heart candies this year and freeze the red foiled covered ones and eat the pinks hehehe. I have frozen chocolate before and it lasts forever Smiley winking We are also going to have some jelly beans and other things as well....I'm thinking of doing more of a desert buffet instead of just candy. I tested making red whoopie pies this weekend and they turned out great. (for those wondering a whoopie pie is a northern cake type thing, they are kind of like oreo cakesters but better lol)

I have been going back and forth on whether to have a candy buffet. And then... I saw that this week, Brides Rally is offering a $350 deal on candy buffet. Totally thinking of getting it..

Let me know what you think:

I thought about doing this too but then wasn't sure. If I do, I might wind up using mostly Mexican candy in order to spice up the party. Smiley winking Hopefully it will cost less too.

We're doing a candy buffet with ALL of our favorite candies. We're buying all of the jars (thank you, Michael's coupons!) and candy (through candywarehouse.com) and the people at the venue are going to set it up and monitor it for us. It will be all crazy colored, but it will all be wrapped, so people can grab with their hands and will up their favor bags with their own choices.

I've looked at pictures online and so many look sparse and cheap. I want people to truly feel like a kid in a candy store, with abundant candy and options. We're going to have 27 containers and at least 1.5 pounds of candy per guest. All of the leftovers (if there are any) will be donated to the shelter where I volunteer as a waitress (in their homeless cafe), along with our flowers, so I know it won't go to waste.

We're having an adults-only reception, but I am sure that our guests will still act like it's Halloween and stuff their sacks full!

Yep def doing one!!! I love the idea. That's our favors so it's less work for us, fun for the guests, and they don't get just one boring type of candy. Plus they're beautiful!

Anyone who is interested in candy buffets should check out my website! CandyShopBuffets is an online retailer of candy buffets and we will ship the items to you for a DIY type design.

Now through the month of March we are doing a promotion where we put together a candy buffet for you, at cost of candy plus half-off vase rental! We design the favor bags, the types of candies, and decorations for the table and you simply set it up before your wedding! We have one booked for a bridal shower already, but if you or someone you know wants a wedding candy buffet, this is about as cheap as you can get. We are accepting 2 more weddings now-March.

-any questions please contact me through the contact page on my blog!

    Happy Planning!!

Does anyone know when I should order my candy if my wedding is in early September? I'd like to get it early enough that I'm not rushing but dont want anything to go bad!
