Can’t decide on cake

We did 3 separate cakes with 3 different flavors (we couldn’t pick just one!): funfetti, chocolate with salted caramel buttercream, and lemon with raspberry jam filling.

They reflected my color scheme.

also i REALLY wanted a square cake for some reason - i think because it looks more modern.

Cake wasn't a big priority for us either. Our venue is actually a bakery and event space so it was a no brainer to order some cakes from them. Their wedding cakes were out of our budget so we went with some of their standard tortes and made them our own. I LOVED the one covered in strawberries. So much so that my husband ordered it again for my birthday this year. We just went with our favorite flavors. Mine is strawberry shortcake and his is chocolate.

At first I was annoyed, but then I actually kind of enjoyed the idea of having multiple cakes! The room our cake will be in is long and narrow and I kind of love the idea of having a beautiful cake at each end! How did it go having three different flavors of cakes? Oh, the cake almost broke me. We sampled 6 bakers and went back to #2. We look happy here but I almost quit the wedding as specific as my groom was with what he wanted. Our concession: 6 macaron flavors for taste variety and in keeping with

wedding colors = 240 eaten by our guests. We had sealable goodybags as well. This was not the economical alternative that I was hoping. Here, feeding each other lavender macarons.

We're doing cake and cupcakes so we can each get what we want. I LOVE red velvet cake but FH hates it, so I decided we'll get that as one of our cupcake flavors along with a couple others. For our cutting cake, we're getting a small, two-tier chocolate semi-naked cake because FH only likes chocolate cake and hates frosting. That was the only way he would actually eat some of it lol.

But then while pandemic binge watching old seasons of Next Great Baker I discovered that one of the winners was opening her own local bakery, and everything fell into place from there! We didn’t have a cake at our DW because a custom plated dessert was already included. We did one for our local reception, a swanky 50’s/60’s theme so my hubby wanted a vintage-style cake. Here’s our dessert table (the dessert shots were already included so we did a small cake).

We had our brunch wedding this past weekend. We knew we wanted to incorporate our dogs into our wedding cake so I sent the cake decorator pictures of our 2 dachshunds. Additionally, we wanted the cake to reflect our brunch theme. We had a cake tasting and couldn’t decide on flavors because they were all so delicious so we ended up doing a different flavor for each tier with the bottom layer being pink champagne with fresh cream, middle layer was chocolate with Oreo cookie cream filling, and top layer was cappuccino with dulce de leche filling. Everything tasted great and the cake was more beautiful than I could imagine. The cake wasn’t a big priority to me either but I was blown away by it when it arrived to the venue! Our cake is going to tie into our theme. We have a hidden Mickey theme, so I found a cake that hides Mickey heads in the regular swirls on the cake:

I didn't want to spend money on flowers for the cake, because I just felt like it was kind of a waste for us, so I went onto our baker's website since they have a rather large photo gallery and picked one of their simpler cakes to design it after:

So we will have Mickey heads incorporated into the swirl portions. Also, I asked for square instead of round because I just like square things. For our cake tasting, we got to select 3 different kinds of cake and then 6 fillings. We chose red velvet with cream cheese frosting because it was the one flavor we all agreed on (we had my mom and her fiance do it with us).
