Can't decide on invitations!

Lisa, on June 15, 2017 at 3:57 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 26

I can't make up my mind on invitations. All of the ones I like are way over budget but can't justify spending the money on something that will get tossed! Any suggestions as to where to get them or how to choose??

Well, where have you been looking for invites? What is your budget? How many invites do you need?

All of the websites, vistaprint, shutterfly, minted, etsy, etc. We need approx 200 invites and I would like the total to be reasonable. I feel like $400 max? Is that too low?

Try also ann's bridal bargains, invitations by dawn and David's bridal invitations. They were cheaper than the other sites.

You need 200 invites? Or you're inviting 200 guests?

$400 is definitely enough for 200 invites but only if you keep them simple and more importantly, light (how big is your wedding?!?)

Make sure you double check the amount of invites you need. Remember you don't need one for each individual guest.

If you have 200 guests, you may only need like 100 invites. That will save some money!

Remember to cost out rsvp cards, inserts, pockets, bands, etc- it all adds up! We are using Basic Invite, got a 20% off coupon code. We had a very hard time finding a site to match our style, good luck!

I did a invite kit from Micheals called Brides. It was $25 for 50. We got 2 kits and i bought address labels for $10. It comes with the templets online and i added sunflower stickers for a personal touch. We sent out about 55 and postage was $70. I think they look elegant with a grey ribbon i hot glued on the middle and set the tone for the wedding. It took a lot of time to put it all together but in the end i hope they are worth it.

I used Shutterfly on a sale day and got 80 invites (20 too many just in case we decided to add to the guest list later). I ordered 5x7 flats with foil accents and spent $100 including the silver envelopes. I made pockets myself out of cardstock, $6 for the pack and $3 in double sided tape. Then made my insert cards myself, used my printer at work so ink was free, again on cardstock $3. Ribbon for a belly band, $4 and then a wax seal $9. So I think I made pretty killer invites for $125. If you have time, resources and tools available, you can do them on the cheap.

I got mine from Ann's bridal bargains. They had a 40% off sale and spent next to nothing for the lace design I was DYING for!

We've bought our invites. We decided on a design we liked from Vistaprint, Shutterfly, and Wedding Paper Divas, then left them in our cart and waited for a promo email. We ended up going with WPD at 40% off, and even though we picked an invite I didn't love (FH was obsessed with it and irrationally hated everything else), I ended up really liking them when they arrived. The quality is much better than I expected. So if there's a groupon for WPD right now, I suggest you get it! They do a great job.

I used Basic Invite. They have loads of designs and you get a special coupon if you order a sample. If you have your own printer or a UPS (or other business with printing service) nearby you could look into printing your own. Michaels and other craft stores usually have invitation kits that will link you to free programs you can use to design your invites.

Also, try to get the number you need down. Most people don't mind being invited in person or over the phone. We're having 50 guests but only sent out 9 actual invitations as they were going to relatives that I knew would want them as keepsakes and older family friends.

I am having the same issue! I hope you find something good! I'm thinking of purchasing the WPD groupon. Maybe buy the a couple of the 200 value for 100 and that will be half of your budget!

We used vistaprint. They have so many choices and were pretty cheap. But invitations weren't too important to me so we went a very simple route.
