Can't fit in dress!

Emily, on June 12, 2017 at 11:04 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 23

I bought my dress a couple months ago and last week I tried on my dress again to get it altered it it won't button completely in the back. It's a size 4 and isn't able to be let out at all. I was about 107 pounds when I bought it and now I'm at 115. I hate that I have to lose the weight because I feel so much better being a healthier weight. But I have to fit! The wedding is in 12 days. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Are the button loops stretchy? If not, can they be altered to be stretchy?

They are stretchy. It buttons at the top and bottom but it's the middle section above that white ribbon that won't button.

That back is so pretty! Did the seamstress have any suggestions for you besides weight loss? Stretchy button loops sound like a great idea, at least where they can't fit?

She didn't really give me any ideas. At this point I'm so distraught and upset about it. I just don't know what to do.

Cut out as much sodium and processed food as you can and eat low carb and work out until the wedding. Carbs and sodium both make you hold onto water weight and working out will help you drop your water weight faster!!! And do things to stay relaxed, stress makes people hold on to weight too. I usually eat low sodium food at home but when we go out it's not uncommon for me to gain a pound or 2 just from one meal. Hopefully that helps!!!! Don't go crazy though, you don't want to be sick on your wedding day!!!!

Lay off any processed food and drink at least a gallon of water a day. Some of it is probably just water weight.

Are you by any chance currently pmsing? That can cause bloating. I second drinking lots of water, cutting down on sodium, sugar, dairy, and other processed foods.

Can your seamstress add new longer loops? Will the dress be open there or is it closed by a zipper and just the buttons won't button over it? I would definitely ask your seamstress about other options besides just losing weight. There should be other solutions she can think of as a professional.

I totally understand your fear but I think you'll be fine on he day of probably just water weight. If you don't think so is is possible to cut a little keyhole opening right there so your back is actually out?

Idk if it would help but did you have cups sewn in? Could they be switched out for cups with less padding? I've found that sometimes things fit better without a bra so this could possibly be like that.

What about shapewear? A good pair of spanx might be able to "redistribute" your body enough to fit!

Could you add a bow or sash over the back buttons to that you can't see that they're not closed?

8 pounds you can do it. Could just be water weight which always melts off. Chicken and vegetables. Sugar should be minimal if you crave it and only take in natural sugar like fruit with high water content (think watermelon). Green or oolong tea is super healthy and good for weight loss. Only 12 days until the wedding then you can go back to eating what you want.

Give shapewear a try to see if it would help. Did you by chance eat before your appointment?

Don't worry, it will be perfect on your wedding day. Smiley smile

You could try another seamstress for a second opinion. I don't see why they cant do something with the dress to make it fit. I have seen them work miracles.

If you have amazon prime, order a sweat belt. I ordered one a couple of weeks ago and it literally melts water weight off my belly after i use it with a workout. In addition, do all of the other things PP's mentioned above: Cut out salt/sugars/processed foods, eat chicken and veggies, and drink lots of water. You could also try taking water pills to help with any bloating.

Good luck... keep us updated OP.

Everything PP's said - when my friend's brother wrestled he used to wear sweats and a sweat shirt and rand on the treadmill to make weight. Don't get drastic, but it might help

ETA: your dress back is gorgeous!

I agree with cutting out all the processed foods, and REALLY watch the sodium level. Ideally you should stay under 100 mg sodium with a snack or 300 mg with a meal.

Also, be sure to up your water drastically! Lots of people don't realize that if they don't have enough water daily, your body will actually hold onto the water you have, and this causes bloating. You can try water pills, but dont get carried away, because they can cause other problems if you overuse them! GOOD LUCK!!

ETA: Also, if you are retaining fluid a sauna is very good for sweating out any excess, but don't overdo it, and make sure to rehydrate afterwards. (I know, sounds counterproductive but it really isn't)

    Don't panic.

Stressing makes it worse- especially if you stress eat.

Honestly- That's a good shit and cutting water. You're fine.

Cut carbs- eat lots of veggies- drink water- and then taper water 3 days before- don't dehydrate yourself- but don't indulge. cardio and sweat out water weight.

You can do it- it's not that much of a difference.

Please be careful! 8 lbs in 12 days is too much. Much of it could be water weight and doing as others have said will help a lot.

@JoRocka, I am confused, why would you say to taper water 3 days before? Are you saying to drink more or less?
