Can't stop changing my mind!

Morgan, on April 17, 2018 at 11:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

Is anyone else having trouble making decisions? I will have everything figured out then I see a different color or design I like and want to change something (or everything). If I make a decision, a month later I will look back and think it's tacky and want to change it. It's like once I've made the decisions I get bored of them. There are just so many options! Has anyone else had this problem?

I started PURPOSELY procrastinating because of this. Planning things back when I was a year out decor/colors wise was too hard because I was indecisive and I knew I'd change my mind.

I have a little bit of this just because there isn't much to plan so I keep looking at things out of boredom and wondering if I chose some things too fast. I love everything we chose but I think I'm just bored waiting for the day and second guessing myself.

I did at first! I kept going back and forth on colors, even though we had chose colors long before our engagement! And I sometimes second guess my dress. I try really hard to not look at style ideas too much anymore, I'll drive myself mad!

Yup! also trends change and we have a 23month engagement. I would not do the long engagement again, too many new friends and too many changes. Would of been so much cheaper if we would of done something in 6 months or so.

How are the travel plans coming along for you guys? Are you thinking you will still have 200 plus guests at your DW? Are you doing a beachy wedding? Sounds like a fabulous time! Wish we would have just done that. If ya can't make it, ya can't make it!

Yes! My mom and friends were getting mad at me cause I keep changing my mind on things. Rather it be expense related or just me finding something else I like better I cant help it. The time is coming close for me so now its just me going with what we have. No matter what I feel like every bride is going to see something and feel like "Man I wish I had that at my wedding"

I am completely in the same boat! I never thought I was indecisive until I started wedding planning. I fall in love with a vendor or something for the wedding and not too long after that I start wondering if I made the right decision. I've already paid deposits on all of my major vendors, but keep asking myself if I made the right choice. I have to keep forcing myself to stop looking at things I have already gotten for the wedding. It will drive me mad seconding guessing if I keep looking.

I think I might have to do this. I've stopped looking at the venue's catalog until I have my final RSVP and know what I have budget wise for decor. So tough!!

They're coming along well! We invited 280 and we're expecting 130-150. The hardest part is getting people to book their room! If they wait too long they won't be in our room block and we'll lose part of the deposit. We're still doing beach for the ceremony, but I think I'm going with a glam look inside the ballroom for the reception. Idk we'll see if I change my mind!

I purposely DO NOT look at other dresses. I was absolutely in love with mine, but I've looked at the picture so much I'm getting tired of it so I deleted the picture off my phone lol. I only look at other dresses if someone posts on WW

I had trouble making decisions for my wedding in the beginning. My vendors, I wouldn't change, because I like them so much. Anything decor related, I changed my mind about a lot. When I booked my florist, I had something else in mind and now I went a 180 almost and changed what I liked. Luckily, who I was working with didn't really talk to me about designs. I spoke to my florist last night to actually talk about design and I'm not planning to change my mind.

My wedding is getting close, so I'm definitely finalizing things and really making up my mind.

You are definitely not alone. The main stuff I have been able to avoid changing my mind on (venue, food, theme, colors)... save for maybe my dress. I like it, but man when I see so many other pretty dresses, I keep thinking maybe I could have found a better one! The only thing keeping me from changing my mind on it is I can't afford another one! We are already on a tight budget! Lol!
As for decorations and the style of things, I keep struggling bc I will have a concept, then see a different concept and go "well what if we did it this way instead?" Ugh! At this point part of me wishes I had just stuck with the original plan of eloping!

I can't stop changing my mind on colors. At this point, I'm just glad that all the colors I was considering are complimentary because I'm using all of them. I also keep flip flopping on flowers and centerpieces... I figure whatever I'll end up with won't really matter in the end anyway, so I'm allowing myself to flip flop and when it's time to start spending money, I'll commit.

I had to give myself pep talks like "Yes, a rustic wedding would be beautiful, but you only get ONE wedding, and you can't have every theme/trend that you think is beautiful. We're having a glamorous artsy wedding in the evening, an you will stick to that theme". And other pep talks like "Yes, that is a great idea. Next time I throw a party I will incorporate that, but I can't do EVERYTHING for the wedding".

I've been in the same boat when it came to making the bouquets and centerpieces. I had this vision when I first started planning for the wedding (a year out from the wedding) and unfortunately I acted on putting my vision together so early and I kept changing how it looked. So our second bedroom currently has a bunch of crafts and things that I've bought but probably won't use. I think now I'm finally satisfied with how everything is coming, lol.

I would look for a general style and then go from there - It is important when booking a florist for example, to know if you want a more tropical, a more classic, or a more modern look so the flowers (and bill) can be planned accordingly. Your dress - try to avoid looking at other dresses once you made a decision, for me that has been the hardest.

I think besides my dress and table assignments I did not change my mind or drift from my original theme. I picked Tropical and so my flowers and my decor match it. I could be creative and use different things as long as they tied together at the end.

I started planning and picking things out about a year before our wedding date (which is in 17 days) and I tried to keep my focus on one point. I even avoided Pinterest for a while because I knew that looking for trouble lol

All the time, in the beginning! I had to stop looking at other people's weddings, Pinterest, ect. I always found something I just loved. I made a final decision and stuck with it, and I'm happy with it. Sometimes I see an idea and wish I thought of it, but stick to my original plans anyway. It's a constant battle!

Current struggles, all of which I have "decided" then not:

    burgundy or plum (or both!)

    candles or no candles

whether or not to splurge on hotel shuttles

    no registry vs registry

    heels or flats

signature drink - cycled through about 5 at this point (ha)

stay at the venue the night before or not

book someone to do my makeup or not

    save the dates or not

So uh.... yeah... I feel ya!
