If you are trying to drop some weight, you should try it too. TMI, but it's also a natural laxative (which is how I think one actually loses weight). Watermelon also hydrates you because it's 92% water.

Sunday night sillies! Smiley smile

Watermelon is also extremely good for cleaning your kidneys, so you might be losing weight because your body is de-toxing. Win-win either way!!

I've been wanting watermelon for a long time - this might convince me to make that purchase!

I don't *hate* it, I just would never go crazy over it like this. It's not super sweet or flavorful, but at BBQs and picnics, people are always trying to pass it off as dessert. Also, its sooo messy, and everyone is always slurping when they eat it. The seeds are super annoying, and even "seedless" has the tiny white seeds that sneak in.

There's no way I'd ever pass it off as dessert. LOL! Banana pudding would be more appropriate. ;-)

I am one of those weirdos who does not like watermelon - or any "watery" melon for that matter and I was raised in Indiana where much of that is grown. Honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon - nope, I will not eat it. I love pumpkin and squashes, but watery melons gross me out lol!

Or ice cream, Kim!! A hot day, having a good time outside, in the summer-- ice cream makes perfect sense in this scenario!

@KB - I've never understood the whole "salting" it thing. Does it really make it taste that much better? LOL!

@Barbara - Absolutely! Who says there's only one dessert? LOL!

Ugh! This makes me so sad! I am pretty sure I am allergic to watermelon. Every time I eat it I break out in little bumps on my face and chest!! I am going to get a skin test in a week, maybe they'll tell me it's something else bc I LOVE watermelon!

@KimS, occasionally I salt mine. I think it makes it taste better but I love the taste of watermelon by itself so I don't do it all the time. I learned it from my mom and also we're Hispanic so it's kind of a cultural thing. I don't understand the chile powder, though. I'm not THAT in touch with my Hispanic culture lol.

    ...this escalated quickly! Woah.

Dislikers of watermelon - you are for sure not the only one. My former roommate/friend/BM hates it because when she was four her mother let her eat an entire one, and then she threw up violently and hasn't touched it since. Can't smell it or anything.

Koch not too weird - FH puts salt on cantaloupe. I think it's gross, but he loves it.

Allison, my mom is allergic to most fruit. Watermelon has likely been added to the list.

I used to think I didn't like it, because my mom would insist I would eat all the way down to the white part. Now that I realized that is where the least sweet part is, it's totally my jam now!

I knew that would be the assumption, rustic bride, so I wanted to put it out there that was NOT the case!

One or 2 small pieces of watermelon is enough to last me the whole summer.

Cantaloupes or honeydews -- HATE them! Don't even like the smell of cantaloupe.

@Allison . Try organic. I know lots of people who breakout from seedless melon. It has to do with how they genetically modify it to remove the seeds.

Love watermelon, actually haven't had any yet this summer. Did you lose weight doing it?
