Card box, paint it or wrap it?

JaQuaya , on June 6, 2014 at 10:28 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

I was gathering materials for my card box and bought acrylic paint ( I thought someone posted before about using it). When I was checking out, the cashier warned me about using it, saying my box could get mushy if too wet.

My fellow WW have you guys tried it this way or just wrapped it in satin fabric? Which would you think would be easiest?

I used regular craft paint and a real hair brush abd my box did not mush at all it ended up hving a wood grain look to it. I applied the paint lightly and did 2 coats. Make sure they dry completely before applying second coat.

I used acrylic paint and it worked just fine. It looks a little weird when applying it but once it dries it is fine and it doesn't take long to dry. I actually did 3 coats.

I used paint. There's a spray sealant you can use before the paint to keep it from getting mushy. There were a couple spots I missed so those areas kind of bubbled up a little but they were small so not a big deal. I got the spray at hobby lobby and it was cheap.

FH spray painted mine gold and didn't have any problems with it turning to mush. He did light coats and probably sprayed it about three times.

I wrapped mine in fabric. I used Alleen's spray adhesive. If you do the spray, remember to spray it from a distance. If it soaks the fabric it will dry with a wet look.
