Card Box

Dj Tanner, on March 17, 2021 at 12:55 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 14
Two-parter question

1. Anyone have any cool ideas for the standard card box? Meaning have you found any thing cool to put cards in instead of a typical box?
2. Should I put the card box right before people take their seats for the ceremony, or should I put it on the gift table? I’m not doing a registry, however I feel like people may still bring gifts on their own.

I've been to a few weddings where I've found it to be very difficult to find the card box. I like the idea of it being right where someone will see it. So either by the guest book so when they sign in they could but it there or on a gift table. I would say though if you do a gift table then to have that nearby the entrance so guests can drop off their gift or card right away before entering.

    Okay this is gorgeous!!!!

Our wedding is really minimal, so we're just going to have a glass box with a gold metal frame for our cards! We're putting it on the same table as the gifts and guestbook so it's all in one spot! Def. have the table either positioned as soon as everyone walks in, or somewhere that will have high traffic to guests will pass by and see it!

    That is GORGEOUS!

We'll be putting ours on the gift table since, even in card form, it's still technically a gift. I believe our venue has a card box that they use for weddings so we don't need to get one ourselves. But if they don't (I do still need to check on that, but I think I remember them saying they did...) I'll likely make one myself. As for how it will look, I've got absolutely no clue whatsoever. But probably not like a regular box. That's just boring to me.

    Card Box 2
This was our card box. My husband actually built it. Our venue first put it by the door when people walked in for the ceremony then moved it for cocktail hour in case people didn't their gift inside prior to the ceremony.

Put it on the guest sign in table! that way people see it right away.

honestly i didn't think much about the card box because i did find a cheap $5 cardboard one but i do like the idea of having one that is nicer for you to keep keepsakes in after

I've always seen (as a guestbook attendant) open baskets for cards and no one stole anything because it was in plain sight. I saw a birdcage once and guests didn't know where to put cards.

Again, I have always seen the card box on the gift table table at the reception. The guestbook is moved from the ceremony foyer to the gift table at the reception..that is where/when guests bring in the gifts/cards. Not sure how that would work when everything is at one location. Have a gift table just in case because people nearly always bring gifts.

I've seen people do wire bird cages. We had a chest-like card box that I got from Hobby Lobby. It was on our gift table. That's typically where I find them when I go to weddings.

Sadly my FHs brother has issues with drugs and we are worried about him trying to take a card or something so we are going to put a lock on whatever we find. None of our family or friends have issues like that and his brother is the only person we’ve ever known with a drug problem so sometimes we just never know what to expect with him sadly.

Thank you! All of your beautiful compliments made my night ❤️ She did a wonderful job and they do sell them on Etsy (my stepmother in law has an Etsy shop for wreaths and I showed her a picture to create one matching our theme).

I too was concerned about security as I understand your situation. Our venue had a card box stolen at a previous wedding that was sadly never recovered. The one we had was purposely large, had jingle bells in it (made noise if tried to be carried off), and trusted relatives emptied it after cocktail hour and kept our cards locked in their trunk. Also designed to not be able to take cards out easily (Velcro flap under box) without having to turn it over. Hope this helps ❤️❤️❤️

WOW! Super smart! Especially with the bells! That way we can hear his brother jingling off if he tries anything 😂! I shouldn’t joke like that but ughh its the sad truth. I really don’t think he would do something like that, but you just never know when ppl struggle with addictions.

The best way to think about it is, you're removing the temptation for him to do something hurtful. He can't help that he might be tempted. Nothing wrong with putting a cage around the fire so he can't accidentally burn himself.

I really like the idea of a mailbox for a card box. When we got married, we were living in an apartment, so it didn't matter, but if I'd had a house I would have got a nice mailbox that I planned to put up after the wedding.
