Card Box

DIY Bride, on August 13, 2019 at 10:36 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 11

Hi!

My fiancé and I are trying to decide where we should put our card box during the wedding. We don't want to leave it by one of the doors as someone could carry it away, and we probably don't want it too close to our wedding cake either. I'm thinking of putting it behind or to the side of our table so that we can keep an eye on it.

My mom said that when she goes to a wedding she likes to hand the card right to the bride. If someone gives me a card, do I put it in the card box or put it somewhere else?

We had a sign in table where the card box was on and it was manned by bridesmaids for the first hour. Then after we took the box and placed the contents of it in a bag that a relative of ours held onto for the whole night since she didn't leave her table at all. Then when she left at the end of the night she gave us the bag back. When someone handed me a card I just put it in my own purse aha or my husband put it in his suit jacket.

We are having our cake table a few feet to the left of us and our card/gift table a few feet to the right of us and that way people can easily place their card in the box or we can quickly put it in if it’s handed directly to us.

I'm deciding between our sweetheart table if it's big enough, or on same table as the guest book. I don't plan to have it by the door

We are putting ours on our guest book table as soon as you walk in the reception area. The space is pretty small, so I'm not worried about anyone toting it off. If someone hands me a card directly, I'll probably just put it in the box.

I have to follow this. I had a plan to place the gift and card table near the entrance of our beach house venue but maybe I should rethink this.

We had the gift table with the card box on a table at 1 side of our sweetheart table and the cake table on the other side of the sweetheart table.

Also, no one handed me a card directly, but I would just put it in the card box if that weren't the case. Why separate it from the other cards?

Here's my advice, put everything in one place. If someone hands you a card, walk it to the card box. You dont want to lose anything. We had our card box next to our seating chart. We also asked my FIL to be in charge of it and lock it in his car at some point. That worked out fine.

Ours was on the same table as the guest book, right at the entrance of our reception hall. Since we booked the ballroom and adjoining patio, there should be no outside traffic crossing that area.

My SIL had her box at her entrance and someone stole from it.. had to be someone from the guest list because it was a closed reception area. So I would advise keeping it close by and within view of yourself. Just my opinion.

We plan to put it on a card and gift table that is close to the head table.

Our card box will be on our welcome table, manned by the DOC. As cocktail hour is winding down before dinner, she and a parent will put it away in the car.
