Caricature for Reception

Sandra, on November 8, 2017 at 9:32 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

My fiancé and I were thinking of getting a caricature artist for our reception instead of a photo booth. We want the guest to use the drawings as favors but fear that everyone may not use it. Should we stick to it or get a photo booth instead? Our guest list will be around 80 people and the cost for both are roughly the same.

I would love a caricature. Some wouldn't and some will post that they wouldn't ever use the caricature, but H and I would frame and hang it. We have a room where we like to hang fun artwork and a caricature would fit right in.

Agreed that it would highly depend on your guests. However, I think it's a great "time consuming" activity for those guests who won't be dancing as much as others. Or even a nice break from dancing (which is what I'd do). I'm not sure if I'd frame it or just put it away for another time, but I think it's an adorable idea. Photobooths are cool and all, but I feel like any event I go to there's a photobooth so seeing a caricature artist would be fun and different to me.

Anyway, moral of the story, it's up to you! Both will be a fun idea in my opinion.

I think caricatures are so much fun!!! IMO Photo booths to me are so cookie cutter now, it's nice to see something different at weddings!

I think it's a great idea. We're also having one, so I may be a bit biased. If you want to do it, then do it. I don't think you should have any other concerns about it.

Also, our caricaturists can do 15-18 drawings an hour. Assuming your artist can do about the same, it's really not that time consuming for your guests.

We are also having a photo booth. Some may say its overkill, but I just want as many options for entertainment as possible.

I'm one of those people who hate caricatures. I think they are a waste of money because I have never, personally, seen them hung as decor in anyone's home. I also hate to sit during receptions. My DH and I rarely get a night out and we love to dance. I'd use the photobooth because if a throwback song came on that I didn't like I could run over get a few pictures and be back on the dance floor for the next song.

I went to a wedding where they did this. Small, 80 ppl like yours, and the line was long. We never even got one. It was fun to watch though. Just make sure you hire them for a long enough time.

I think it's a great idea and the few weddings where I've seen it done, it's gone over very, very well. It's not really time consuming at all, and some artists do it digitally so it's easy to download and share.

I would be thrilled if there was a caricature artist at a wedding, we would have if it was in the budget.

Children and the young at heart love Caricatures.

Especially when the artist draws in a cute, adorable and flattering

Caricature style. I am an artist and I find people do like

to frame and hang Cartoon Portraits if they are drawn

in a flattering and decorative way.

A congenial, friendly artist who engages in the conversational

fun will enhance any wedding reception.
