We're going on a eight day cruise for our honeymoon with Carnival. I've been on one cruise with them and my FH two. We had a great time, good food and nightly entertainment. The staff were great too.

I did a three day Carnival cruise for a wedding a couple years ago and even tho I hated all the people I was with I loved the cruise, I thought the food was great and the staff awesome. The entertainment wasn't that great but it just wasn't my style. I also send my parents on a Carnival cruise for their 30th wedding anniversary that was 7days and they loved it. I've been looking into doing one for our honeymoon (ours will be delayed until Septemberish)

I live in the same city as one of the Carnival ports and have been on one cruise with them. The food was average at best and they don't change out dishes so you get the same food every day in the buffet. The sit down dinners were slightly better but still nothing to brag about.

Carnival is much cheaper than other cruise lines so there is a difference in quality. If it was my honeymoon I would spend the extra money and go for one of the other major cruise lines.

I've never been on Carnival but did 2 Princess cruises..the food was great on both (although the people at our table on the last cruise said they were disappointed with the food, but they cruised a lot and DH and I and have only been on one other)

I have been on a few carnival cruises and one time the food was awesome, the last cruise it was awful. Not once did I ever want to "dig in". If it is in your budget I would look into Norwegian Cruise Lines definitely a better experience.

We just went on a 7 day carnival cruise in august. it was my first cruise experience. i've never been on any other lines. i really enjoyed it. we had a great time.

FH has been on one other cruise before with norwegian cruise lines. it's a bit more expensive, but he said he would prefer to cruise norwegian over carnival (it was his first cruise on carnival). the family always cruises carnival though and they were the ones that planned the trip. we still had a great time, but if we ever go on another cruise and it's just FH and i, we will probably cruise norwegian.

but i still had a great time on carnival! we were on one of the newer ships? the magic. we had no issues. the food was great, everyone was super friendly and accommodating. it was a blast!

I went on one of carnivals oldest and cheapest ships two years ago out of Charleston, SC. I had a great time. the food at the buffet was plentiful, but nothing to write home about. A lot of options for sure. I would highly suggest eating in the dining room for dinner every night. The food was sooo good and you can literally order everything off the menu if you want. I think I gained like ten pounds on my cruise. We did the early seating at like 6:30pm for dinner and I liked it. I didn't feel like it cut into my day at all and then I had more time at night to do things on the ship

I would not cruise with Carnival given the issues they've had with their ships the last two years. Just look how many times they are mentioned in this article: http://www.cruiselawnews.com/2013/12/articles/social-media-1/top-10-most-outrageous-cruise-ship-stories-of-2013-the-worst-cruise-line-in-the-world-award/

I have never been on one, but a very close friend has twice. She informed me if we chose a cruise to pay the extra amount and go elsewhere for the honeymoon. She said the food on the buffets were always the same, some staff wasn't to friendly and the rooms were nicer in the pictures. Might I add this is coming from the most low maintenance girl I know lol! There's a mixed review here which is good, id also do a review search on them

I'm like Sunshine Jenn, I'd never use Carnival.

However, I've cruised with Norwegian, which is a cruise line that was mentioned on this thread. I cruised on the Norwegian Epic back in September 2013.

Ship was huge.. basic food was mediocre. Not that much different than your Golden Corral, in my opinion. The food's everywhere... you don't hit the GOOD food unless you go to the speciality restaurants. I had one good meal on that ship and it was during the dinner/show of Cirque de Solei (sp?). Actually, I lost 10 lbs. on that cruise, and I always heard people GAIN weight on cruises.

We considered a cruise but we didn't want to be around a crap ton of families/kids. That tends to be the main demographic of cruises, in my opinion.

What Andrea said about eating in to dining room for dinner every night... I second. We had 6:30 reservations for the week and it was perfect. The wait staff is the same for your table every night and they learn your names, what you like to eat. Our staff became like family and I'm such a sap, but even teared up a little on our last night saying goodbye. They were great!!! And the good was really good, and yeah, you can literally order the whole menu every night if you wanted and it's all included. The menu changes every night too, but if there was something you really like from an earlier night and wanted it again, all you had to do was ask.

I know carnival has had some bad publicity and I was a little nervous but our trip was awesome. Absolutely nothing went wrong and we had a great time.
