Carnival Cruise questions

Mrs.Whooooo, on April 10, 2017 at 5:57 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 23

We're doing a 7 day Mexican Riveria cruise through Carnival for our honeymoon.

Has anyone booked spa packages through them before? Was the cost for a couples treatment for both people?

Also, is the alcohol card/sticker worth it? We're gonna do the soda one at least but $100 bucks a day for booze seems excessive.

I'd love any advice or opinions!

Does that include non-alcoholic drinks? 3 days are off shore days so i'm not sure how much we'll drink those days.

The booze card is DEFINITELY worth it. We didn't get the cards because we thought we wouldn't drink THAT much, but we ended up spending more on booze than the cards would have cost. Womp womp.

And I'm not sure about the massage thing. We didn't book any spa treatments.

ETA: I'm a day time drinker...mimosas with brunch, or a sex on the beach at the pool after lunch, so it definitely added up by the end of the day, even on port days.

We did not get the booze card for our honeymoon. We figured you had to drink at least 5-6 alcoholic drinks per day each in order to break even and we just don't drink quite that much.

We had talked about getting a couples massage before we left and hadn't fully decided. We stopped in the spa and saw the pricing was high $200s and up. We were still thinking about it, when we found a $50 gift card to the spa as a honeymoon gift with our towel animal. We had mentioned earlier in the cruise when asked if we were celebrating anything that it was our honeymoon. We decided to go ahead and do it. I think the cost was still above $200, I just don't remember how much.

Gah, We can't decide what we want to do and I know it goes up 5 bucks a day per person if we wait til we're on the boat.

Bluehen- Ok that's not bad then. I thought about booking it online in advance but maybe we should wait til we're on the boat?

One thing DH said after we got on the boat is that he remembered seeing a much larger menu of services for the spa online than when we were actually in the spa. And while we were upfront with them when we went in to book the appointment that we had the gift card, they didn't want to see it until later. They said hold on to it and we would give it to the therapists when it was time to pay. So that makes me think you could book it now (assuming they'd have you pay later on the ship), then mention you're celebrating your honeymoon when asked on night 1, and see if you get a similar spa gift card on day 2 or 3 that you can put toward your already booked massage. But, I also have a sneaking suspicion the gift cards were a ploy to get us to spend more on stuff (we also got one for the pictures), so I don't know if you get certain gifts based on the occasion you are celebrating or if it is based on what you haven't already booked.

Attend their special spa presentation on the first day and you'll get a great deal! I had a massage and facial for about $120! However, expect them to try to push products for you to buy.

BlueHen, I think it's based on the occasion because we also got the spa gift card and photo coupon because we told them it was our honeymoon.

We aren't going to a Carnival owned Island. We've got 3 days on shore- 2 in Cabo and 1 in Puerto Vallarta. @ of the three days we have half day excursions booked.

I know FMIL put it was on our honeymoon on our reservation but we'll be sure to bring it up at check in as well.

The spa is a little pricey, the special they have is normally only for port days. We skip the alcohol card because we just don't drink enough to make it worth it. You can bring a bottle of wine per person in your carry-on.

I have found that spa treatments at resorts/cruises are overpriced and not all that great.

Grooms- good to know about port days. I noticed when looking at the availability online, there were definitely times the price for treatments were a lot higher.

FH and I don't drink wine so that's out unfortunately. He'd probably use his to max but I don't drink much lol

It says on the website its $49.95 per person per day and both people in the cabin have to have the card.

it says in the restrictions section

    https://www.carnival.com/FunShops/item/SQA/cheers

ETA: Its $804 for the whole trip for both people including gratuities, which are included.

Just read that, I should have red the small print. I might do that for my FH and then me just buy drinks at random. I'm not a heavy drinker.

For us, the booze cards were totally worth it! Not sure if this happens on all carnival cruises or not, but each day, the spa pricing got better and better as they were desperately trying to get people to come get services. We got our massages and facials on the last day for a STEEP discount.

Ashley- you have to do it for the whole stateroom, so you'd both have to get it and you have to do it for the whole trip
