Cash bar reality check

Just went to my cousins sweet 16 last night and my notoriously cheap aunt had a cash bar. It shouldn't have been a shock, but it was. Having to walk back to my purse to get a card to put on file because I had no cash was uncomfortable and annoying. Sorry.. Just still aggravated about it today.

@Shanita- We're also over 10K. Still providing at least wine and beer (I want to see if they'll do ciders too because I prefer ciders to beer but I know that most people like beer so yay for both!) and the signature drink. It doesn't have to be a full on bar with hard liquors and mixed drinks to keep people happy.

Lol, an extended family member had a wedding several years ago where you were given a thimble sized 'complimentary pour' of wine. Further pours, or any other alcohol was cash only. To add insult to injury, the wine and beer available at said cash bar tasted like rubbing alcohol.

Its still referenced by the entire family as 'what not to do' when anyone in our extended family finds themselves planning a wedding.

The argument is tired. Hosting an event and making your guests pay for anything is tacky as all fuck, end of story. If you're tacky as fuck, go for it. But everyone will think it's tacky as fuck.

    Tacky.

    As.

    Fuck.

If your biggest problem right now is not getting your drinks paid for at a 16 year old's birthday party, and it bothers you enough to make a post about it, life must be pretty sweet. Also, bashing your own aunt and calling her "cheap" is bad form in itself. Get over yourself.

While I'm not going to touch the rest of Shanita's comment, I don't think it's a bad idea to put cash bar on the invites. At least then I know to bring cash if I want to drink.

I've been to a pretty fancy wedding before (richest people I know TBH) and it was a cash bar. I didn't think much of it at the time but I was a little disappointed because I had only brought my phone and ID, no method of paying. I think a lot of women do similarly and don't bring a big purse/wallet.

I was torn about a username, but I think privateuserw1star will do the trick. At least your post was good for something.

*MINE it's MINE. Mine is not plural. For fucks sake. I HATE when people do that.

How about "troll patrol" instead. I could think of another username for you but I'll get suspended from WW for the mere suggestion.

I would need many drinks at a Sweet 16 personally.

Shanita, the fuck, really? That's how you host? What a bean counter. And please spell out your words and change your avatar and I hope you're giving your guest(s) dessert and not sand.

eta: Oops, new rules. I change that to: Your idea resembles that which a counter of beans might use.
