Hi,

I have already received a dutch oven for a present (so excited!!) but I would want to know if anyone knows the difference between the dutch oven and a braiser? should I have both or is it basically the same thing?

A braiser has shallower sides. When you braise something you don't want it to be fully covered by the liquid. You can still braise in a Dutch oven. You just have to be more mindful of how much liquid you pour in. The Dutch oven is more versatile.

A braiser is more shallow, so wouldn't be used for things like soups or chili or stews. We don't have a braiser, just a dutch oven and I think it works fine!

Hey Concetta! Have you decided if you will add a braiser to your registry list? I must admit that I never knew the difference either, but they seem to be similar enough!
