Casual/ low key wedding?

Carly, on July 25, 2019 at 9:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 4
Has anyone had a very low key wedding with a small number of people? No bridesmaids? Planned in a short time frame? If so, can I see pictures and/or get information on how you did it? Smiley smile

Im in the middle of planning one now (terminal health diagnosis for FMIL) We are planning a small backyard wedding at FIL's house for August 17th. We will have a total of 5 weeks to plan (2 down, 3 to go). We have 25 people including myslef, FH, and officiant (friend). It will just be immediate family and a couple of FMIL's siblings. We are renting some basic folding tables to set up in the dining room/front sitting room to eat at, nicer white chairs for the backyard ceremony that we will employ our 2 8yo nephews to bring inside for dinner, ordered a cake from a local bakery (2 teir, 6 & 8 in rounds that will feed about 20) plus an assortment of other pastries, and catering from Biaggis. For decor, I ordered 400 sola flowers and dyed them ( I also plan to reuse them for our big, already planned celebration in November and just re-dye them) that I got 60% off a couple of weeks ago with some fake eucalyptus vines. I am still in search of a new (cheap) dress because FMIL was adamant about saving my dress for November. Lets see... what else... We are using the same cake knife/server/champagne flutes/runner that we will use in November. I'm lucky and am getting alot of help from my mom since she is newly retired and bored lol. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to PM me Smiley smile

We did a small backyard ceremony. Only parents, siblings, and 4 really close friends. So 16 people total including us. No wedding party. A friend was our officiant and guest. We planted a bunch of annuals around the yard rather than paying for florals. I got a silk bouquet on budget bride for $40. No favors. We did the reception at a local Inn that does dinner so we didnt have to worry about tenting, rentals etc. I found a photographer on thumbtack.com for 3 hours total at $600. My budget came in around $4000. I tried to focus on our union not the material things while still trying to make it easy and not do a million DIY's. I wouldnt have changed a thing in the end, it was beautiful, simple, delicious, and us. Any questions let me know!

My friend did one in three months with 100 people but hers wasn't casual or budgeted. She spent a lot by buying one of those packages where the venue just handles everything. Butttt that's definitely one way to do it if you're time constrained aha

    Hey Carly!!

You can totally do a small and low key wedding!

How many guests are would you like to invite?

Would you consider having in at home, or in a family member's home? Or would you prefer to have it somewhere like a restaurant where you wouldn't have to think about external catering?
