Caterer ghosted me?

JMF, on April 30, 2017 at 10:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

I have been in contacted with Weber Grill in the Schaumburg area. We communicated for a month before going for a tasting in early March. She sent the contract via email. We sent it signed back 2 weeks ago. I had emailed and called her 2 times since sending the contract. The manager told us that she has been in the office all week. I'm not sure why she hasn't gotten back to me. I'm a bit concerned.

Are you able to go there in person to find out what is going on?

ETA: I'd want a fully executed countersigned contract for my records. Me signing the contract without their countersignature is not full acceptance.

What are you waiting for them to contact you about? Your wedding is in 15.5 months. You sent a signed contract.

I'll be honest. I signed my contract with my venue over a year ago. I didn't hear anything from them until this past Christmas when I went to see the coordinator in person. My wedding was so far away at the time. It could be the venue has other events going on before yours that are taking precedent. If you're concerned you can go in person, but your wedding is over a year away. Even if something has happened you have time to sort the issue out.

I live really close to there! I would just go in and speak to someone and express your concerns. Every time I have been there the service has been great so I am sure they will be understanding and help you get in touch with her.

I can somewhat understand as I felt this way with our DJ at first... however... I had to remind myself that he has MANY other weddings before mine that were priority and I needed to back off a bit. That's probably the case here. They are probably working on details for weddings that are coming up this summer. I know that you want to get things finalized and taken care of, but just be patient. Smiley smile

I think it's important that the OP receives a copy of the contract with THEIR signatures so it is complete. Maybe that why she has been contacting them. Other than that, there isn't anything to do so early.

You are over a year out. Don't stress.

We're almost 17 months out and our venue holds tastings twice a year. We are going in November.

I'm not saying this is serious. I'm just concerned that she hasn't gotten back to me in over 2 weeks. If this is how it's gonna be with them, I'd rather take my business elsewhere

Why do you need to communicate with her now?

Did you say you had a question? Do you need additional services now since signing the contract? Are you wanting to schedule a tasting? Or are you calling just to say hello?

I dropped my contract off a month ago for my venue and haven't heard anything. I'm not expecting to either. We are so far away, they have other events going on! It's okay - nothing to stress over

Communication is key no matter how far it is. She probably just wants confirmation of the contract being received. It irritates me too when vendors and planners don't communicate. It's just common and business courtesy no mater how close or far it is. It's okay to say, I'll reach out to you at my earliest. No harm in that.

No one here is going to disagree with the fact that communication is important.

It's the reason for establishing communication that is.

If someone calls me and just leaves their name/number, wanting to speak with my boss, for example, returning that call is not going to take precedence over someone calling to ask for a deposit refund, to book a large group stay, to establish a wedding block, etc.

In this situation, if it's to receive confirmation that the contract was received, I would take it as no news is good news, personally. I feel as a vendor, I'd reach out if I was expecting a contract back, and did not receive it in timely fashion.

However, I will say that if it's solely for confirmation, someone there should have a way of checking and confirming that the contract was received.

But again, it's the start of the peak wedding season, so they may be fulfilling other contracts right now. I know where I work we have our first three-wedding weekend coming up soon.
