Hi all I need some advice! I have a guest list of 185-200 and a catering budget of 5k-6k I am looking for a plated service with Hors d' Oeuvres. I am having trouble finding a good reasonable vendor with good service so any suggestions are welcome.

I don’t think you’re going to find plates service with hors d’oeuvres for budget. At 6k for 185 people that’s only $32 per person. Even in lower cost of living areas, i would imagine your options are to cut your guest list, increase your budget, or change what you’re looking for to a buffet or drop off catering.

I’m from the DFW area and I don’t think a plated meal with hors d’oeuvres is possible for that budget.

I would definitely recommend that you check out the Wedding Catering Cost Guide for Texas. It will give you an average cost that couples spend on catering for their wedding. It’s important to keep in mind though, that if you are looking for plated service (which would be the most formal catering option) you are looking at more expensive caterers as there will wait staff included.
