Catering Advice for a Late Wedding

John Smith, on November 22, 2019 at 9:15 AM Posted in Maryland Planning 1 3
Hi everyone!
My fiancé and I are getting married at Black Ankle Vineyard in July of 2020 and would love some advice for catering! It’ll be a late wedding, with the ceremony starting at 7pm. We’ll have around 100 people. Because it’s a late wedding, some people have advised just doing light sandwiches and horderves. We want to feed our guests adequately, but we also want to keep the catering costs down as much as possible. Any advice on how stricture the cocktail hour and meal? And on potential cost-effective caterers near Mt. Airy? Thank you!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Annajoy!

Cocktail-style is a popular serving style for a wedding (Wedding Catering Serving Styles: A Glossary) and something you could totally do. The pro’s of it are that you can serve a wide variety of food and save on your catering costs. I would recommend you reach out to a caterer to discuss this serving style and discuss a budget for that number of guests.

There are a ton of caterers listed on the WeddingWire vendor directory you can check out and send an enquiry to - Mount Airy Wedding Caterers.

Are you opposed to BBQ? Our friends had Monks BBQ cater their wedding and it was some of the best wedding food we have ever had!

We decided to go with a shorter cocktail hour charcuterie in the form of passed horderves, and then a full buffet meal to follow. My family is European, and they tend to eat later than the standard American anyway, so it should be fine! The American side can snack beforehand haha.
