Hey ladies! As you all know, vendors are expensive, lol. And I want to assure my FH that we are getting a really good deal/price for our catering. FH's Aunt is our caterer, and she owns her own catering business. I know the price she gave us is really good, but it is still a little higher than we imagined in our heads. So, just to put his mind to rest, I'd like to have some average costs to compare it to. I realize this is something that varies depending on: type of food, buffet vs plated, region, guest count, etc. But would y'all mind sharing what you paid for your caterer, just so we have something to compare it too? **And PLEASE don't take this in any way as being ungrateful. I'm sure any couple working with a small budget can understand. We are extremely grateful, but just wanted something to compare it to since we have no clue what "normal" catering usually costs.**

We’re getting married about an hour north of Tampa. The quote I got was from Sonny’s.

We're paying $36 pp in the Minneapolis area for our 130 people semi formal reception. It includes a buffet two entree dinner with sides and salad, silverware, linens, service and fruit carving. Alcohol is a separate vendor. Food was important to us and we tried some cheaper ones but this one tasted so much better! We decided to save by doing a buffet vs seated. $36 includes service fees and taxes, those were an extra $8 pp which is crazy.

I had this happen too with my FH. It can be shocking to find out how much this stuff actually costs. For our caterer in the Hudson Valley NY, we're coming in at about $5,400 for 125 people, including a ton of hors douevres, salad, several buffet entrees and sides, coffee and tea, cutting the cake, and handling my lemonade dispenser area. This price is including staffing, taxes, and tip, but not plates and glassware, or bar, cake, or additional desserts. This was the second best price I found anywhere that I looked in our region.

I'm getting married in Richmond, VA. We are not having a cocktail hour nor are we serving alcohol. Our caterer has quoted (and we just booked it, so it's TBD) $30 per person for the following for lunch buffet: fish dish, pasta or starch, vegetables, plated salad, rolls, water and tea, and dessert. It was going to be $28/person without dessert.

Hey! We went with Conklin Catering. It was AMAZING! We didn't even do a tasting or make any changes to the original sample menu. They did all the set-up/clean-up, helped with centerpieces, the price was reasonable. They were fabulous. Plus, we had a minor catastrophe that morning and the main gas line exploded at the venue, which in theory set the timeline for the day back several hours. Conklin Catering somehow managed to cook everything on time, without cooking gas, I still have no idea how. They are serious professionals, and our guests absolutely loved all the food. Highly recommended!
