Catering booked day before.

Sydney, on March 9, 2022 at 4:31 PM Posted in Planning 11 6
I’ve stumbled across this amazing catering company. But they are in the process of working with a bride the day before our wedding. We do not know if they have booked them or not yet. I have my last tasting Sunday and we finally decided to go with the one who is now so closed to booking and not go to last tasting. Should I just go and book with them (they aren’t bad and have great reviews) or should I just kind of wait and see if the one we originally wanted to go with gets booked or can squeeze us in. It’s a small business that started over ten years ago but I’m not sure how many employees they have. Idk what to do and I’m upset because their menu offers more than the one we were going to attend Sunday (until we decided to ask if they were still available)

Why would they not be able to do your wedding if they have one the day before? Even the smallest catering companies in my area do events back to back days.

She said she would let me know but I really need to have it figured out by this Sunday before any other dates are booked with them or anyone else. I just want it behind me.

I would just let her know that you really want to book her, but you also need to confirm that she’s available by this weekend because if not, you need to confirm with someone else.

Yes ma’am that’s what I did. And she said it would be Monday before I got a yes or a no which doesn’t help and I’m worried that since she only has three people working for her we won’t have enough food in time if she does say yes. Idk. Thanks for the comment.

If she can’t confirm in time then I’d book someone else. Always better safe than sorry!

I can’t imagine why that would be a conflict. Many catering companies have calendars set up like that with an event the day before with no issues. However the red flag for me is that the caterer can’t confirm their availability. That should be something she can tell you yes or no right now. Look elsewhere and ask caterers to customize a menu which many have no problem doing. The only time this might be an issue is if you are in an area with limited options and the caterers feel they are doing you a favor by working with you instead of you hiring them for what you want and need.
