Catering drama

Jess, on January 30, 2021 at 12:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So, our caterer backed out on us yesterday with 3.5 months to go to our wedding. His business tanked, but he failed to let anyone know about it... he is giving us our entire deposit back, but now we’re scrambling to get something pulled together. This whole wedding planning process has been such a joke. This on top of going through one postponement to not being able to postpone again and needing to cut our guest list and just move forward. I’m seriously losing my mind.

Have your local favorite restaurant caterer (half the price of a wedding caterer and better food) and hire servers via thumbtack.com

Contact the local news station to speak with their consumer reports team if you can't get the caterer to respond and reimburse you.

Should be easier getting a new caterer, at least.

    Remember to breathe!
My SIL secured a caterer less than a month before her wedding. So 3 months is plenty compared to that!
Do a search of wedding caterers and see if any are still available. And if that fails like PP reach out to some favorite restaurants. It won’t be the same as you had planned but it’ll be good food and that’s the important part. Good luck, it will all work out.

With so may brides postponing their weddings for 2022, I am sure there are plenty of caterers available and happy to have the business, but I am sorry for the extra burden of having to find something else.

Like someone mentioned earlier, look at local restaurant catering options. Also, if you are a member of a regional wedding group on FB, I found them to be super helpful in identifying local vendor options, even last minute. You may find an even better option than the one you had. Take a deep breath — you got this!!!!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! It’s such a difficult time. I agree that looking into local options would be a good idea. Or even hiring a food truck perhaps? I know some couples have done this and it’s turned out really great.
