Catering / home reception

Andrea, on January 28, 2021 at 6:26 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

I was curious if someone could tell me how much would it cost to have people cater to a personal home?

My NYC building has a roof that residence can rent out, though I do not know the date of my wedding nor anything else yet, I and my FH are thinking of what type of ceremony and what type of party we want after his brother did the courthouse and had a small gathering at their house no caters.

I was wondering maybe to rent out my roof for a night or a day or whatever and have people come and eat and I was thinking oh family can make food and then I thought maybe I should have caterers

Catering pricing (all vendor pricing actually) varies wildly depending on location and what you are asking for. Your best bet for getting an estimate is to call several caterers in your area and ask them. Compare the numbers and see if it fits your budget.

We actually did this for our rehearsal dinner/welcome party (rented out the rooftop party room with skyline views in our apartment building). We got catering quotes anywhere from $2000- $8000 for heavy apps for 60-70 guests. It depends on the type of food, the vibe you're going for, and how many guests. We ended up staying closer to the $2000 mark for food because we did heavy app stations instead of a plated meal, so we didn't need to hire servers to stick around and we only had to hire bartenders (our event was pretty casual as well). It was definitely a budget-friendly option because the room rental fee for the entire day was only $300. We also purchased our alcohol in bulk and hired student bartenders. Ended up staying under $3000 for the whole thing!

Do not ask family/guests to cook. Have your favorite local restaurant cater
