My fiance and I are having a hard time finding an affordable catering company. Seriously I have messaged up to 30 vendors if not more, and more than 20 of them would cost us over $20k. I would say look on the knot because you can filter a vendor by price. We found that restaurant caterers were way more affordable than random generic catering by Julie etc. I know this next suggestion isn’t for everyone but we considered at one point a food truck. We didn’t go that route, but food trucks were even more affordable

I have found that a lot of venues who do in house catering are more expensive than those who allow you to bring in your own caterer. A lot of places have preferred vendors as well. Being able to shop around I have found is a plus because you can see where you need to cut cost at.

If you're having your wedding in a small town, try to look at local restaurants. They really appreciate the business, and they're mostly budget friendly.
I fed about 100 people for $1200. I had a BBQ buffet, which isn't fancy but all the guests loved it.
