Catering or potluck?

Futurebarber214, on December 8, 2016 at 6:22 PM

Posted in Planning 97

Im debating on whether to have my wedding catered or doing a potluck style wedding as far as the food is concerned? Has anyone had a potluck style wedding? Is it a good idea or a bad idea? I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

Catering is the only way to go; in fact, many venues won't even allow it due to insurance and liability issues.

But get on it; in the wedding universe, March is tomorrow.

Catering is the way to go girl! If only we didn't have individuals who crave these kinds of post just so they can release negativity in an insulting manner. I commend you for asking a legitimate question and handling these negative responses with class. Your wedding will be beautiful, congrats!

Whoa Shannon, please elaborate on who was negative?

Everyone, to include myself answered her question and even said she was awesome for handling the humor.

No reason to get your panties all up in a bunch. OP was going along with the snarky humor. Way to be the fun police!

The OP has a good attitude and says she is glad to have this "great input". She is receiving the advice well. There is absolutely no reason for this thread to turn into a complete shit show. Although it probably will anyway.

Well this thread took a different turn... and it wasn't because of OP.

@MrsMinor14 I'm glad you are so open and took the sassy nature of WW with a sense of humor. Catering is definitely the way to go!

I agree with everyone. I vote catering as well UNLESS your wedding is a tiny affair at your house or something along those lines. Even in that case, spring for catering if you can afford it. It's the best day of your life after all Smiley smile

Melissa, I just watched Elf ... again.

SON OF A NUTCRACKER, I LOVE THAT FRICKIN' MOVIE TO THE END OF WORLD AND BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... and I had some beer.

ETA : to quote Marissa ... Potluck bad. Catering good. ... Beer better.

ETA again : Shannon Marie stick in mud. Momentum squashed.

Do not under any circumstances do a pot luck or self cater. Host your guests with a professional catered reception- it does not have to be formal or expensive, something as simple as BBQ works but let someone who is trained with how to handle and food and keep it safe

Eta: read all the comments and saw you were receptive to catering! Yay!
