We are getting married in a local park, in Western Michigan. We are trying to keep the budget trimmed up tight and under $3000, so far so good. My question, do we think it's possible to feed 100 people for $1000 or less?? Do you know any Michigan Vendors this might be possible with?? Or is this just a pipe dream??

You can do it, it's not going to be anything fancy though.

FutureMrs Forbes...I very much agree with you that a wedding can be beautiful, and done on a budget. The statement rant you made about don't let a vendor tell you what is not possible....I truly hope you were not including our venue in that mini rant. I was glad to give you suggestions that could work in within west michigan, because I am within west michigan as well. I have family that live right around the corner from Spring Grove Park, in Jamestown. I would have to say that it is important to take where some of the vendors are located within the country into play when listening to their response...

If in california, new york, or new jersey...the pricing is way different than in our area.

Not all wedding vendors are money hungry individuals....I attempt to be helpful and share my knowledge, and I do not want to be included in that category. That is just not the type of vendor we are at Apple Blossom.

Why is it...if a vendor offers advice, we are considered money hungry?

My wedding budget for my whole wedding 10 years ago was $2500...food, dress, tuxes, venue, etc. It can be done, you just need to look hard enough to find what you want. I stayed within my budget!

I think it is very doable. Here is a few options that seem to fit your budget:

Pig Roast and BBQ Catering Menus

    Appetizer Menus

I also live in West Michigan and was having the same dilemma. I didn't want to pay $15 a plate before plates and silver wear were included. I decided to have a pig roast I haven't decided if I'm going to have someone cater for me or if I'm going to have a family member be in charge of the pig. But either way it's going to be cheaper then $15 a plate!
