Catering!

Alexia, on November 12, 2021 at 12:58 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 16
Brides. What are you guys paying per person for your caterers? Our wedding is approx 150-175 people and seems a bit pricey. Would love some guidance! TYA

Our pp cost was a bit over $200 for three passed apps, two stations during cocktail hour, buffet with three proteins, salad, bread, three starches and vegetables, a selection of mini desserts and open beer and wine bar for four hours.

Ours is included with our venue, and our pricing depends on how many people come if it's over 200, they're charging $118 per person for all the food for cocktail hour (6 apps, one display station, 1 carving station) and buffet dinner and open bar for 5 hours. If it's less than 200, I think it's like $130 per person. Which was cheaper in New Jersey than most places.

We're paying about $125/person for a restaurant reception with shareables, a soup/salad, entree, and dessert + drinks.

This is going to partially depend on where you are and what the norms are there. I'm in the midwest, and I think we're going to end up with around $45-50 per person for everything (our contract is subject to change a bit depending on meat prices and we're paying for alcohol by opened bottles). Our package comes with 3 very basic apps, buffet dinner with 2 meats, a snack table later on with popcorn, all alcohol and mixers for an open bar, non-alcoholic drinks, staff, linens, and tableware. I believe we're lower mid-range for catering averages around us, but it's pretty typical around here to do BBQ and BYOB, so that's not saying much.

We haven't finalized anything yet, but if we do an open bar with beer/wine/non-alcoholic drinks for 5 hours, bbq/baked beans/coleslaw/mac and cheese, mixed green salad, and dinner rolls as well as iced tea and lemonade (served buffet style), and 3 hors d'oeuvres as well as fresh fruit and cheese, it will be $52.50 a person. I'm in the DC area, for reference. I'm wondering if I'm missing some sort of fees since it seems so cheap compared to all the other posters.

It really does seem ridiculous sometimes. sometimes it feels like $100 or more per person and fathoming that is so hard especially because that's just food. in the end i wanna say that for food and drink only i probably spent somewhere like $60 a person.

32 per person, this is including top-shelf alcohol dinner we are having bbq food from a great restaurant here in Colorado. we are having 100 people so we're looking at 3200 for food and beverage we are binging on the desserts and cake, which was not included in this quote

Ours will probably average out to about 30-35 per person for 200 ppl. Granted the venue is only about $3200 but we have to bring in our own vendors. We only have 3 hours open bar of just beer and wine, my FH's cousin is doing the catering for $10-$12 per person and we're having pastries instead of overpaying for a cake. I realize this isn't standard, especially for SoCal but if i have to have so many ppl at my wedding, I didn't want it to be formal

Ours is about $65/person. That’s an average though for kids, adults, and cocktail hour.

Hi Allison! Are you willing to share the company that's doing your catering? We have a similar budget for our 3 hour brunch reception and the search has been very depressing!
