Catholic Ceremony - Times

FutureMrsMunnell, on August 4, 2017 at 2:23 PM Posted in Planning 1 13

Hello!

Is anyone else having a Catholic Ceremony and care to share their times as far as Ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception?

The earliest the church can do a ceremony is 2:00 - which seems a tad early. Just looking for suggestions on a good time to start cocktail hour and reception!

Thanks!

My church ceremony will also start at 2. I'm having my reception start at 3, I figure it will take everyone that amount of time to get there

I struggled with our timeline as well because i didn't want a gap, but i didn't want a super early dinner either. we have to do a 2 p.m. service because the priest has a 4 p.m. mass. so we are doing 2 p.m. service, followed by receiving line/greeting guests outside the church. it's about a 20 minute drive to the reception, so we are starting that at 4 p.m. cocktails from 4-5:30. everyone enters, we announce bridal party and do a welcome, salad course served at 6. doing our first dance around 6:20 followed a dance set, dinner will be served around 7.

We had mass at 2pm so at 245pm invited everyone to Hell for ice cream and then a nearby pub, taking photos with our guests. Then to the reception venue at 5pm for cocktail hour, reception at 6pm.

Our ceremony starts at 2 and will be a full mass plus extras (Mexican cultural stuff) then cocktail hour will follow and dinner will be served at 5/5:30.

Hi! We had a catholic ceremony without mass at 2:00. It took about 45 minutes and our reception was 20 minutes away.

Cocktails and munchies were served until 4:30 at which point we were announced, danced, did the cake cutting and speeches. Dinner was at 5 and late night food was at 8. Our reception ended at 10. I hope this was helpful!

I don't think 2:00 is too early at all! I am going to a formal catholic wedding this fall that starts at 9:00AM! Attire is "Formal Brunch" which makes no sense to me. Just keep the vibe of the wedding appropriate with the time of day and don't have a huge gap. With that in mind, pick whatever time works best when you think of how you want the day to go.

We just had a catholic ceremony. The latest time our parish would do the ceremony was 1:30 so our timeline looked like this:

    1:30 ceremony

    3:00 social

    5:00 reception room opens

    5:45 supper

    6:45 cake

    7:30-11 dance

It was actually kind of nice having an early reception because I am not a night owl and your day starts so early with a Catholic ceremony

The church I'm getting married at usually suggests weddings to start at 1:30-2. But I begged for 2:30 and they agreed even though they have a 4 o'clock mass.

I’m having this same problem and it’s stressing me out 😞 my church the latest they do is noon. And the reception is being held at my parents private residence. If I have the reception right after it would be at the hottest time of day in Florida and people will be sweating and miserable. I don’t know what to do.
