Catholic wedding--flowers to Mary?

Eleanor, on June 2, 2018 at 2:11 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 8

I should know how to do this because I've been to Catholic weddings, but offhand I can't remember when and how. It's at the end of the Mass, right? or near it? One flower, or a whole bouquet?

Usually a smaller bouquet, towards the end of Mass. Your priest will tell you exactly when.

Thanks! I really should know because I've been the organist for at least three weddings and still can't remember. :-)

Our priest told us right after communion (if you are doing a full mass with communion). We’re doing a small bouquet

I have never heard of this tradition? Is it by area or all around? I am getting married in a Catholic Church and have never heard of it

It's actually pretty common at Catholic weddings. I doubt anyone else does it, maybe Orthodox weddings?

I've seen it at several Roman Catholic ceremonies. It's optional but pretty traditional. Not sure if either of my daughters are doing it at their Catholic masses.

It’s optional and happens after Communion before the end of the mass. I’ve seen people do a whole bouquet.
