Catholic Wedding Help

Amy, on May 8, 2022 at 10:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 1
I was raised Catholic and received Baptism, Communion, & Confirmation. My fiancé was baptized Catholic in his home country (U.K.) but didn’t receive Communion or Confirmation when he and his family moved to the US. He does not wish to receive either as he is not a practicing Catholic.

Does anybody have any experience with this kind of situation? How should we approach my family’s parish about this?
Thanks for any advice/shared experiences.

There is a prescribed form of wedding mass “between a Catholic and non-Catholic” that can be chosen for a Catholic wedding. My future SIL and her husband did this because he’s Methodist. The Catholic Church has no problem with this, and will guide you on what elements of the Mass you can or can’t do in this form. I know some churches require you to do a little extra marriage prep if a Catholic is marrying a non-Catholic/not practicing Catholic, so there may be that as well. Talk with your church’s wedding coordinator or team and they’ll be able to help you go about planning the ceremony.
