Catholic Wedding Mass order of events?

Kathleen, on February 19, 2018 at 11:14 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
Hello all! My priest is a very busy priest and doesn’t always have the time to answer emails. I’m fuzzy on the exact timeline of events in a Catholic wedding with mass. Prelude, processional, etc. Do all Catholic brides show a devotion to Mary? I know it’s traditional, but is it required?

I did a quick Google search and found http://catholicweddinghelp.com/topics/order-wedding-with-mass.htm . It has the entire mass outline provided for you! It is not a requirement to do a devotion to Mary. However, if she happens to have significance to you, then by all means include a devotion to her.

We chose not to do the devotion to Mary, a unity candle, or anything else extra! Ours was a full mass with the vows included before communion.

You walk down the aisle after the priest does (or he waits at the front with your FH, that's what we're doing) and then it progresses as a regular mass would until your vows before communion. You don't have to do anything involving Mary if you don't want to, it's totally up to you and your FH, if he has a devotion to her it's something you'll want to include even if you don't, just pray with him while he does. Your priest should give you a proportion booklet soon if he hasn't yet that will outline this for you better and help you pick the reading, vows and some other prayers for your mass.
