Ceiling Drapery

Val, on January 22, 2017 at 11:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

We have a barn-style venue and they have allowed us to hang drapery across the ceiling beams. (Like in the picture)

I'm sure they can tell me how much to buy, but where could/should I buy the drapery? From a fabric store like Jo-Ann's or are there better options for buying large quantities of drapery?

Thanks!

That would be a TON of fabric from Joann or a craft store. I would think it would add up pretty quick.

A few of the venues I visited mentioned linen companies that come in and can do things like that.

Maybe look into a rental company?

Sorry, can't be much more help than that.

I recommend hiring a professional for this. We're also doing some drapery, but are leaving it to the pros. Maybe your venue can recommend someone? Plus, then you're not stuck with a bunch of random fabric after your wedding.

You should hire a company who will provide and install the draping.

On the vineyard , they charge $400 to weave the "shimmer cloth fabric" they call it. Save your sanity and call some rental companies nearby . Someone must have previously done this type of design in the area. This is time consuming and can be dangerous for the diy type. But they have bolts of fabric on tableclothfactory.com if you still want to try.

Something to consider is that regulations may require the fabric to be fireproof. Go with a rental company is my advice - that way everything is covered in terms of liability.

Definitely hire someone. They could also provide uplighting or lighted trees if you want. Well worth the money.

Hobby Lobby! They have tons of different materials to choose from ( I am using organza for my barn wedding)

What would you do with all that fabric after the wedding? I think for this type of thing renting is the way to go.
