Celebrating our original wedding date?

Sharyl, on August 31, 2020 at 7:36 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 9

My fiance and I were originally supposed to get married on 10/24/20 but because of COVID, we ended up post-poning our wedding date to April 2021. We are pretty bummed out because we have always wanted a wedding in the Fall. We were thinking of having a small get together with just family only at a park to celebrate what would have been our wedding day. I figured it would be better since we have more room to social distance, etc. Any ideas on what a good way to celebrate the day would be, if not a picnic? Smiley sad

I'm sorry you had to postpone! A picnic at a park would be a good idea, as long as the weather cooperates! Otherwise, you could go out for a nice dinner - depending on how many people you have, you may need to split into multiple tables. Or, you could order a cake from your cake baker and do dessert with your family. You could also do a Zoom party with everyone. My fiance and I celebrated our original date by visiting the restaurant at our venue with a few friends, going to the beach, and doing some wine tasting.

If you decide to celebrate the day with just you and your fiance, you could go on a weekend trip, or do a movie night, or go out for a date night. Whatever you end up doing, it will be a beautiful day!

We were originally planning a Nov wedding and will know marry in July 2021. We have decided to do a mini vacation in the downtown area and stay at a fancy hotel, go to a fancy dinner and even order room service for breakfast (which to me sounds heavenly). It will just be us. I do plan to call the hotel, explain the purpose of our trip - maybe we can snag a room upgrade with a better view. I think anyway you choose to commemorate the day will be special.

A picnic is fun. We postponed from 10/10/20 to 10/30/21 and we’re actually happy about the new date. But... we still plan to acknowledge the original date with a weekend getaway in Santa Barbara (about 4 hours from us in San Diego). I preferred a quiet one-on-one trip instead of a group gathering.

Yeah, we were thinking a trip as well. We live in San Francisco and we were thinking of doing a road trip to maybe Portland to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, etc. but that’s still up on the air.

That sounds nice! And that’s a great idea to call the hotels to see if they can hook up a room w/ a view! Smiley smile

    Aww thanks!
I like that idea- order cake and share w/ family! My family is a huge fan of sweets, so that’ll be a taste of heaven for all!

We postponed from November 2020 to November 2021. Initially we were thinking about doing a mini trip, but decided that we won't feel comfortable flying as soon as November, because my fiance is a doctor. So we will be having a nice dinner by ourselves and getting a mini cake from the same baker who will be making our wedding cake.

My wedding was supposed to be this past weekend and we postponed to Sept 2021, we spent the weekend pampering ourselves. We went wine tasting and had a nice dinner and just spent the weekend loving on each other. It was great!
