Celebration of Marriage 2 years later?

Olivia, on August 1, 2022 at 12:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 6

Hello, So me and my husband eloped in May of 2020 during the pandemic in florida with no one there with us. We had planned a large reception when we got back but covid made us cancel 4 times within the year and everything was booked up by the time our venue was closed for good.(Also nearly every venue i reached out to in 2021 was all booked up for 2021 and 2022) Now 2 years later we bought a house and would like to still have a big party. Is it inappropriate to have a reception/ marriage celebration 2.5 years after the fact? it would be very small but we would still have catering , drinks, and music. I am mainly upset we didn't get to celebrate with our family's as well as walking down the aisle with my father or have that daddy daughter dance. What should I do?

Congrats on your marriage. I know your wedding wasn't what you dreamed it would be but how special you got to celebrate your love with your partner despite all the craziness and uncertainty that was going on around you at the time. This may not be a popular opinion but one thing I ve seen is how much covid has taken from people, the biggest one being time. I think it has made me more aware of how important it is to celebrate our joy in even the smallest of ways. You never know when your last special moment will be with someone. If you want a big event then do it. Explain to your loved ones how important it is for you to celebrate with them. Some people will think it is a great idea others won't but thats ok everyone is entitled to their opinions, do what will make you and your partner happy. Best of luck to you! Cheers to loveSmiley heart

I say go for it and whoever can come will if its 100 people, 50 people or 20 people how special it will be to share the joy and create a memory nobody will be able to take from you. Tell your closest family and friends how happy you are to create a sweet memory with them and just celebrate something joyful. Have fun!Smiley heart
